Let's hope he will be OK with backup minutes.

Yeah, he thought he was going to make that while stating for the Jazz. Now he's playing the backup role.

I hope he's worth it. I don't recall anybody here drooling over Wesley Matthews during the season.

I'm still a bit surprised at the size of the contract for a rookie with a 12.3 PER, but I'll trust for now that the team knows what they are doing by bringing him in to Portland.

Good luck, Wesley, and the spotlight starts right now.

Matthews will get somewhere around 30-32 minutes a game. Knowing Mr. Sonic, he will take minutes away from Batum if he needs to.

I can't imagine that he ever thought the Jazz would match.

It seems quite unlikely to me that the Blazers didn't placate him about playing time to a certain extent, but I don't think he's going to be complaining too loudly about making $9m next year after not even being guaranteed a roster spot a year before.

I think folks will be surprised. I believe we will see Roy, Batum and Mathews on the court at the same time. The reason being, we all know Batum can guard a 1, and Mathews can guard 2's and 3's. Batum and Roy will provide enough ball handling to get it done, and it will be our best perimeter shooting unit we can place on the floor around Greg for spacing.

The other reason being, we have Mr. Sonic as our coach, and it reminds me of the lineup he was part of in Seattle, with Kendal Gill and GP. Everybody was 6'5" or above. Becuase of this, they could all switch on the permiter.

Sure, just look at Batum's minutes. He has been extremely underutilized, and literally in every game I watched, the announcers harped on why Batum played so little.

But Rasta is right as well

Not to worry, by midseason he'll be one of only five healthy players, and getting 48 mpg!

I like your new way of posting. It's much more direct and concise.
