Nic Batum is the most overrated player by this fan base in the history of pro sports

Some of you are either the biggest homers I have ever seen or you"re just delusional. While Batum is a nice player and will be a good glue guy in this league for the next decade why do a lot of you act like he's this superstar that you would really have to think twice about giving him up for CP3. Chris freakin Paul is a hall of fame type point guard who is just now about to enter his prime. I would give up 10 Batums to get Chris Paul, and guess what so would every GM in the league. This Batum talk is COMICAL! I thought KP used to overrate are talent but man oh man some of you are 20 times worse.

You're right New Orleans, he's totally overrated, you don't want him. You'd much rather have the Summer League MVP Bayless, and a guy who matched a rookie record for 3s, Rudy. We'll also give you the top 8 touted Babbitt. All of this along with one of the best PGs in the game, Miller, who absolutely abused Westbrook, who is also an expiring contract. We'll also throw in one of the toughest Centers in the league in Joel who is also an expiring contract. All of this, and if you act now, we'll throw in a 2011 1st rounder. These guys are all much higher touted than Batum, he's got no credentials at all, he sucks, forget about him! Don't fall for that Blazer Homer hype!

I'm with those who wouldn't want to give him up if Paul isn't somehow extended. Other than that, sure, I'd potentially trade him in a CP3 deal.

I actually couldn't agree more. I know guys really put a lot of value on Webster back in the day because of how high he was drafted, but I don't remember seeing so much love for a starter that is more of a role player since some of the Dave Twardzik love back in the 70s.

I think if you can get CP3, you do whatever you can to bring that megastar here - even if it entails Roy, although I admit you gotta get him to sign the extension if you get rid of Roy because you don't want him bailing for two years and I think one of the reasons he named Portland as one of his top four choices was so he could play with Roy and Oden).

But I do agree to an extent that people need to get over this whole "protect Batum" feeling they are getting. This is Chris Paul for crying out loud. We just picked up Wes Matthews, who can fill Batum's shoes and may very well win over Batum's starting spot by the end of the year if they are both on the roster. Young players that are tenacious defenders are a rare breed, but it isn't like you can't pick them up for the MLE like we did with Matthews. So good post, I'd like to see more of a push to encourage Batum to going somewhere that he can flourish and take off with his career, and more people trying to preserve the only piece that really could be the difference in winning rings with CP3 in having a now healthy Greg Oden for the next few years.

So who's saying that they wouldn't include Batum in a package for Paul? I like Nic a lot, but I'd ship him off in a heart beat if he's the young player that NOH wants to make the deal work.

Now, ILOVEODEN, what if it's Greg that NOH demand?

I'm amazed by how many people are so hesitant to trade Batum for Paul and by how many people are so fast to give up on Oden. Keep Roy & Oden. Bring Paul here.

Who are these people? All I've seen are people hesitant to give up Oden. As far as I can tell, everyone would be thrilled to get Paul in a package headlined by Batum, even if they'd be sad to lose Batum.

The closest thing to your perception is that a certain number of people might rather give up Aldridge (if that were possible) than Batum.

Who are these people that are saying they wouldn't trade Batum for Paul? There are those that have said they would be sad to see Batum go, or that they wouldn't give up Batum in combination with Oden, but no one saying no if it was just Batum plus filler. I've said I would rather Aldridge be the centerpiece instead of Batum or Oden, but I'd do any deal that included just 1 of those guys and the right filler, but giving up any 2 of them in combination is just to steep a price IMO.

That's a bit different. The poll isn't asking about Batum for Paul, it's essentially asking "Who's most untouchable, other than Roy, in a big trade?"

IMO, respondents are treating it as a "Who would you least like to trade?" poll. Unless you also think 1% of Blazers fans don't want to trade Bayless for Paul. Personally, I'd find that hard to believe.

We've had a ton of Paul trade threads on this forum. I've seen almost no one explicitly state that they're uncertain of trading Batum for Paul.

That poll isn't asking whether or not Batum for Paul is something they'd do, it's basically asking of the players on the list who would you least like to see included. Batum and Oden would be no 1 and no 1a on my list after Roy.
