I'm starting to see Rudy as "parasitic", though.

Am I missing something here? How does this benefit the Blazers at all, or make them better next year? That's the worst fucking trade I've ever seen. Wallace retires, Gaffney is worthless, the 1st round picks aren't in the lottery, and Joel leaves without frontcourt help in return?

Anthony Randolph would be a coup. I think adding him to our roster would give us a great asset to bring off our bench, or another guy that we could throw at New Orleans. Would it mean that we would have to give up Joel? If not, I think we could still put together a nice deal to try to pry away Collison.

    Rudy and Pendergraph for Randolph.

Joel, Bayless, and Cunningham for Collison and Posey.

That gives us a roster of:

    Miller/Collison/Johnson
    Roy/Matthews/Williams
    Batum/Posey/Babbitt
    Aldridge/Randolph
    Oden/Camby

That's an insane team right there. Good vets, with plenty of experience, but also a good core of young guys too.

My nine man rotation would be Miller, Roy, Batum, Aldridge, Oden, Camby, Collison, Matthews, and Randolph. Camby, Randolph, and Matthews can all play two positions. Collison would be groomed to take over the point from Miller in two years, maybe sooner.

Well, just for fun, let's say that it's a precursor to a deal for CP3 (I mean, isn't that what we want to talk about anyway?). Let's say that the Hornets want some immediate cap relief, so Wallace gets moved along in a trade for Posey, retires and cuts about $6.5M off the Hornets' payroll this year. The Blazers then package Miller, Bayless, Batum & change for CP3.

Stern would never allow that to hapen. I don't even think I'd feel comfortable with that blatant attempt to circumvent the CBA.

Why is that a circumvention of the CBA?

Well, if it's a 3-way deal, I guess it isn't. Perhaps I read eblazer's post wrong. I read it as bringing in Wallace, then fliping him as soon as is allowed. I also don't see why Boston would let Portland do that to get Chris Paul if it indeed a 3-way deal.

I'm for that. A platoon of LMA and Sheed would be great.

All I want to see is Sheed retire as a Blazer closing is press conference with the immortal words, "God Bless and Good Night".

Some of you are overlooking the possibility of Sheed really wanted to stick it to his old team. He could retire before we get a chance to trade him, thus making his contract worthless, and sticking us with a terrible trade when others were on the table.

I've been a proponent of trading for Randolph since early last season when it was rumored that he was available; he's long, he's got some nice versatility, he blocks shots ... he's basically a second coming of Marcus Camby and who better to play behind and learn from than Camby and Buck? As for the rest, I think Collison would be a great get, not quite as great as CP3, but the fact that we wouldn't have to gut the team to get him would be a big bonus.

    Hopefully this all goes down.

I love this. We would have to gut the team to get Paul, so how much better would we be, if at all? These trades make us clearly better without touching our core.

I think I'm over the Chris Paul mania. Since Paul is most likely a no-go, or if he is attainable it is at too high a price, I'd love a Rudy/Bayless/Joel for Collison/Okafor trade.

    Get 'er done Monty!!

Splain? They covet Rudy, they'd like another true 7 foot center to pair with Amare and by all accounts Joel is ahead of schedule

I dunno if they'd do Randolph for Rudy alone. And if not, not sure if they're going to value the difference between Joel and Turiaf to make it up.

The Knicks desperately need another shooter (and a 2 guard period) who can space the floor for Amare', Randolph is a backup power forward behind Stoudemire, so his overall impact on the Knick's success (despite his talent) is probably less than what Rudy could provide for them. If need be I think the Blazers could easily add draft rights to guys like Claver, Freeland, etc. to make the offer more attractive.
