I know we have discussed this somewhat before, but if Carmelo doesn't think a Chris Paul hook up in NY is going to happen, Portland wouldn't be the worst place for him to end up. Nuggets aren't looking to cut salary, so even an Aldridge or Roy trade might work, if Blazers wanted it to.

I know Nugs would be resistant to trading him to the West, but Portland may have better value to return to them and if they are trading Carmelo, then they are rebuilding.

You'd have to gut the team just to make salaries match. Here is one that works but is awful IMO:

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=25kbqse

Here's a better variant, but much less likely they go for it.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2dn3gkt

Really you are giving up Aldridge AND Batum to get Carmello as he would start over Batum even if you retained him.

Why do you have to add Balkman in?

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2ejww7w

I'm not sure how well Carmelo would fit, but you rarely have a chance to land a player like him. I would certainly consider giving up Nick and Aldridge. You could end up with three very dominant players (Carmelo, Roy, Oden) in your starting lineup that you wouldn't otherwise have access to unless you could get Chris Paul.

Mess around with trade machine. It's very hard to match due to being over the cap and BYC for Aldridge. Carmello's salary is pretty freaking high.

Love Trade Machine's "Hollinger Analysis" bot. Nicolas Batum is worth a 10 win swing for Denver in those two Idog trades. Also, either of those two trades nets Denver a 5-man lineup that could win more games than Minnesota.

LOL, I wasn't saying they were good trades.

I was trying to think of who Denver would want that aren't named Roy and Oden and working from there. I'd much rather trade for CP3 to say the least. Melo...I don't know I just don't think he is as helpful as one might think. His scoring would certainly take the pressure off of Roy. I'm still feeling like our only hope against LAL and the Heat is via solid defense. A healthy Batum, Matthews, Oden and Camby would really make a massive impact IMO.

Not sure I could part with Batum and LMA for Carmello, but you'd certainly have to consider it.

I think Mello and Paul have already worked something out together. Paul unhappy and Mello not wanting and extension..... smoke is fire here.....

Don't count NY or the Nets out here..... Amare is already in place... the Nets have an owner willing to spend....

At that point (next summer or the year after) the Lakers will be a shell of their former selves and the West might as well form it's own "2nd best" league.

Stern may have tried to kill Portland deals to set up what you are proposing. The Heat would destroy NYK. Now NJN....that could be interesting with Lopez.

How about your first trade then this:

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2474u3o

    PG: Miller/Johnson/Mills
    SG: Roy/Matthews/Williams
    SF: Carmelo/Babbit/Matthews
    PF: A. Randolph/Camby/Cunningham
    C: Oden/Camby

To see the full trade it looks like this split in two:

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=24zc3le

Edit: Accidentally reposted the first whoops.

Their frontcourt is pretty stacked. They drafted Cousins, they traded for Dalembert, and they already have Jason Thompson. They've got Evans in their backcourt, but Udrih isn't great and Garcia is marginal at best.

That's a lot for NY to give up for Bayless, Rudy, and Pender. They might do it, but it's hard to say. I'd be all over that trade though.

True, but Randolph is backing up a 36 to 40+ MPG guy in Amare''''''

Well I would do it no doubt! Landry is an upgrade over LMA.

He is eligible to be signed and traded, right? If he doesn't want to sign the extension as part of the deal it dies.

    Isn't Amare playing center?

I wouldn't like to see it. I can't stand Melo and I think the difference between him and Roy's abilities is so minimal that it wouldn't be worth who the extra player or two they'd be looking for.
