Frankly, he still could be, but obviously he wants out, and KP's failure to do something about when he had ample opportunity planted the seeds of all this discontent. That said, Rudy is not acting like a professional and he has to own that part of this debacle.

As much as I love LMA, that would be a disaster. Zach has no defense to speak of, and in no way can LaMarcus guard NBA Center's. We're not the Phoenix Suns.

That's assuming Oden gets hurt at all in this parallel universe.

yeah, couldn't be much worse than having Travis Outlaw as our backup PF.

That's an ignorant comment. Quick has been wrong many times, but that doesn't mean he doesn't know what's going on. He works closer to the team than anyone here, with the exception of HCP. Iavoroni was probably slated to be the coach, but something could have fallen apart at the last minute. I know my infamous "deal coming soon" thread was a last minute debacle.

Would Memphis do that? I read that they are being frugal and not giving him the customary 120% of rookie scale, by making the last 20% into performance bonuses.

You can't trade a player who doesn't want to play in the NBA to another team. What team in their right mind would do that?

Secondly, releasing him from the Blazers only screws the Blazers. We would stil have to pay his salary. We would still have him count towards the cap. On top of it, he could bail to another NBA team with no Blazer control over it. Rudy needs to realize the Blazers have a lot tied up in this too, it's not just about him.

Unless Quick was on the phone call - he does not know what were the offers. Period. He gets filtered information from other teams/agents. In other words, he is just reporting on the agenda someone else has.

There's frugal, and then there's cheap. Rookie scale deals are inherently value laden for teams and typically pay below market value for player production (especially lottery picks) to cheap out and withhold a meager 20% makes a franchise look pretty fucking stupid.

Rudy doesn't like the politics of the NBA? Sounds like any other disgruntled office employee who couldn't get ahead due to talent and blamed it on office politics.

Not getting a first round draft pick is not going to hurt this team. You guys want to consolidate? Let him sit out a year and go back to Europe. (like he would actually give up the money)

Play hardball with these agents and whiny little bitches. Do not let them get away with these tactics. Let him walk. We are talking about a bench player here.

...especially when they committed $80 mil for Rudy Gay just weeks prior.

    Pot meet kettle.

The Iavaroni thing just scratches the surface on Quick's ineptness.

As for your infamous, "deal coming soon" thread. That was just you being full of shit, which you have had a tendency to be around here.

Rudy is such a little bitch!

Though, the Blazer management had the entire summer to come up with something and have done nothing about this situation. Way to drag your feet, management.

Frankly I'm kind of happy he's planning to sit out. Just imagine if the Blazers gave him his release so he could back to Europe and then the first thing he does is goes to some conference rival in dire need of a shooter and then we get to put up with him deciding that he wants to play up to his potential again.

It sucks that we're losing him for nothing, but when we were reportedly going to be getting James Johnson and a potential late twenties pick, what's the goddamn point? We end up with a player who makes Travis Outlaw look like Jason Kidd, and a reputation as a team that can be bullied into submission by a petulant player.

    lol ...

    Ah, mid-August on a Blazer's message board.

So I'm new to the party but let me see if I've got it straight - We've lost Rudy for nothing, there's no faith in management, our new GM is too attached to KP's boys, we're run by a bunch of evil suits with pointy ears, our team has gotten worse from 2 years ago, beloved players and Pritchard have been aliented and tossed to the side like garbage, Oden is going to leave next, and the team is on a collision course with oblivion. The franchise now lies in ruins.

    Did I miss anything?

Or did a bench player, who we already knew wouldn't be back next season, just once again express publicly that he doesn't want to be here?

Wow. Guess we should all get to the bomb shelter. What with armageddon and all.

At this point you are really off base, but that's ok. Deal Coming Soon didn't happen, so I look like an ass. I get that.

No. You always claiming you have the inside scoop and friends in high places therefore you are "in the know" makes you look like an ass. The deal coming soon thing was just funny, because anybody can say that and this place will go nuts.

Cho apparently emphatically said to Quick that he will not release Rudy.
