The Knicks are believed to be at the top of Carmelo Anthony's list of preferred destinations, but New York may not have the assets to make a deal.

"What do they have?" a source close to the Nuggets told the New York Daily News. "That makes it tough."

Reports have indicated that the Knicks could offer the expiring contract of Eddy Curry, a future first-round pick and Danilo Gallinari.

However, the Knicks may try to sell Denver on Wilson Chandler over Gallinari if they make an offer.

The Nets, Bulls, Rockets and Magic have been mentioned as potential destinations for Anthony as well.

Why don't the Knicks have the assets? How many teams have better assets?

A better question is why the Knicks are using Danilo as a deal breaker for Melo. If all it takes is swapping Chandler for Danilo to get the deal done they should pull the trigger and then figure out a way to get Parker or Paul.

I think Houston has the best assets, but I can't see Denver trading him in Conference.

At the very least, the Bulls. But I'd also say the Rockets. Or the Lakers if they wanted to.

Melo has a lot of control though, if he wants to be a knick all he has to do is opt out. Not sure how hung up he is on New York though, I wouldn't mind playing for Orlando or whatever if I was him.

I think the Knicks would have done that already. Denver probably wants more than Chandler.

But what assets do the Rockets have? Brooks? They already have Billups and Lawson.

What assets do the Bulls have? They aren't giving up Rose and I doubt Noah. Denver wouldn't want Deng's contract. So what would they offer?

Shane Battier & Jeffries expiring contracts and two of the New York Knicks 1st round picks they gave away in the Jordan Hill deal.

The Rockets don't have our pick this year. They only have the right to swap picks with us this year. Still, I don't think that trade is better than the Knicks. The Nuggets don't need expiring contracts since Melo, in a sense, is expiring.

I think Gallo/Eddy/1st rounder gives the Nuggets the best amount of talent they can get in any trade without adding additional salary to their team.
