    I wonder why?

He didn't break any rules by transfering, so there is no NCAA reason why he shouldn't be allowed to play?

I'm guessing they arent happy with the loophole, and will soon be closing it. But I honestly have no idea.

Thank god the NCAA stepped in and shut down that loop hole. We sure as hell don't want players trying to graduate early and then work on getting their masters degree.

Apparently even against their own rules.

Agreed, but I want to read the NCAA's reason for denying him. According to their rules, he should have been able to do this

How so? Did you read this article?

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/football/ncaa/07/27/masoli/index.html

I am not saying you have to believe everything you read (though it is a reputable source)... but my personal take is that Masoli was not involved in the theft incident whatsoever, which is why he was suspended. If he wasn't involved... to me it seems like he got an amazingly bad break, one of which was certainly not karma biting his ass.

Not always. I read the whole article and to me his explanation makes more sense than trying to believe he was involved. There just isn't anything to support that. Even the kid who reported the incident can't say Masoli was involved... and plenty of other sources back up a version of events that show he wasn't involved.

So the incident with being pulled over with pot in the car is no big deal to you, either?

My original "Smoke.... Fire" stands. You aren't accused of multiple things unless you are AT THE VERY LEAST guilty of putting yourself in consistantly bad situations.

If that was the straw that broke the camel's back... and it turned out that all the other weight didn't exist, it would just be a straw. I don't think he is different than most college kids (except in his football ability), and certainly no different that the QB who is going to start for the Ducks this year. It was likely Thomas' pot in the glove box.

Problem is, it wasn't. Masoli had a history of bad decisions dating to before him becoming an Oregon student. Belotti and Kelly gave the kid a second chance to play for the Ducks. And he pissed that opportunity away by his continued bad choices.

I think that Kelly was privvy to information about the incident that you and I were not, and he chose to kick Masoli off the team permanently for it. That almost makes it a moot point whose pot it was. It was Masoli's car. End of story.

I think Masoli is getting exactly what he deserves by being made to sit out a year at Ole Miss. He transferred for the sole intention of avoiding Chip Kelly's punishment, and the NCAA saw right through that.

Masoli himself says he lied to Kelly about being there. I am sure that was a big strike against him... and then after Masoli gets a lawyer I am sure there is no communication between the two... then Masoli pleads guilty to the lessor crime to avoid any possiblility of jail time, and Kelly suspends him. All completely understandable... and amazingly unfortunate if in fact Masoli really didn't have anything to do with it.
