Man, what if Cho holds out (stupid) and doesn't end up trading Rudy? I can't remember Rudy's latest stance. Would he still lean towards staying in Spain and effectively become a no-show in Portland?

So what if Cho holds out leading to Rudy holding out?

    Hold on...I'm thinking about it.

If it's a game of chicken, just ask yourself this: Who stands to lose more by blinking first or not blinking at all?

Hint: Cho is the guy behind the wheel of the proverbial dump truck and Rudy is on a Vespa.

    Do chickens blink?

And so I find myself googling "do chickens have eyelids?"

And the answer is, yes, 3. 3 Per eye, I assume that means. That answer is available from any of dozens of websites, presumably built by people who care deeply about chicken eyelids.

So in a game of chicken, there will be a lot of blinking.

I just hope he doesn't 'settle' for an offer, like from Chicago and their own first rounder.

I'm sure Vulcan will notice him playing computer solitaire all day and fire him. They like to cut costs, don't they?

It's really bizarre that Cho would work so hard to get to this point and then just zone out and challenge interns to games of trash can basketball. What was all that past effort for? Sad.

Some people just get complacent when they reach the top.

Working the phones is working, right? But nothing has gotten remotely close to being completed since this whole Rudy fiasco started. The roster is as unbalanced as it's ever been.

Rudy is making peanuts the next two years. Real Madrid could probably float him some endorsement deals in Spain to make up for sitting out the season, and once he does, the shit is on Cho big time to do something.

Cho has been WOOFING to the media about not being intimidated by Rudy, and not caving in to Rudy. Rudy should call his bluff and see what happens.

Honestly I don't care if we decide to stand pat with him and he calls the bluff and doesn't show up. He loses any chance of coming back to the nba and we lose what is looking like a late first round on a team that doesn't seem to like to make consolation trades. So we basically lose a first round pick that would sit on the bench... oh noes!.

I don't think we should be caving to a unhappy player that has been sandbagging. Take a hard stance on this so in the future if someone tries to pull this they can see what happened to Rudy.

I think if not traded Rudy will be at camp.

Even with Rudy holding out/waiting on someone to up their offer I love the starting talent and overall rotation. They've got quality players at every spot... certainly well above average for the league or what the club has had in the past.

Ya, I agree, if not traded Rudy will have no choice but to show up. Otherwise he'll just get fine until he does. Believe me, no way is he going to sit out 2 years when his complaint in the first place is playing time.

Good point. Cho should hold out for Rose. Rudy for a 1st round pick is not even close to equal value

    Huh? How?

We've got prototypical complementary players at all five starting positions. (Pass-first PG, scoring SG, defensive SF, scoring PF, defensive/rebounding C). All of them have great size for their positions. Every one of those starters is a top 15 player at his position in the league. We've got two perimeter shooters (Batum, Roy), two midrange shooters (Aldridge, Miller) and a physically imposing power center (Oden). We've got a couple of proven, high quality guys coming in off the bench (Camby, Matthews). Matthews addressed our weaknesses in perimeter shooting and defense. We've got an up-and-coming youngster on the bench who saw his PER increase by 70% from year one to year two (Bayless). Some decent prospects/role players on the far end of the bench (Cunningham, Babbit, etc).

The only thing really out of kilter right now is Fernandez. And that's really nobody's fault but Fernandez. (Well, I was calling to trade him a year or so ago while his stock was high, so maybe you could argue it's Pritchard's fault for not capitalizing. But it's hard to complain about a GM who isn't here anymore.)

Frankly, I think it's been about a decade since our roster has been this balanced. It's not completely perfect (at some point it'd be nice to get a better perimeter shooter at PG), but geez.

    Unbalanced roster:

    Miller/Bayless/Johnson
    Roy/Matthews/Rudy/Williams
    Batum/Matthews/Babbitt
    Aldridge/Camby/Cunningham
    Oden/Camby/Przybilla/Pendergraph

15 man roster. We got 6 guys in between the PF/C slots. 3 or 4 with Roy who can play SF. 4 or 5 for SG, and 3 at PG. With 15 people on a roster, and 5 positions, you're going to have a few guys at each spot. I don't see the imbalance.

Put me in the category of "happy Blazer fan". If our biggest issue going into camp is whether a backup 2G that we don't need and who isn't costing the team much in salary will show up or get traded, we're in a pretty good spot.
