    I wonder how much latitude the NBA has here... could they fine players a million bucks a technical?

    I tend to give the NBA the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this, but I am curious to know if there's a limit to how much they can do on this front without collectively bargaining it.

    That is what I was wondering as well. It seems to me that they are doing something which is not completely within their power to control, at least not without the Union having a say in it. Combined with this years additional technical in the rule changes, it seems to me that the NBA is out for money, and aren't concerned about the play at all.
