Seriously, how accurate can a measurement eyeballed through some blinds be?

So just to get this straight. Our coach who has never pushed the ball in his 10 years on the job is saying that we aren't practicing offense because of the fast break? So I guess it's either a defensive stop....which didn't happen a ton last year, or an ISO?

It makes sense; men (maybe women too; I don't know) grow an extra inch or two between the ages of 19 and 22 as a final growth spurt. I forget sometimes how incredibly young Batum is compared to the rest of the core (remember, he was starting for the Blazers as a rookie at 19!).

ha! I read this thread and just started shaking my head... the boy who cries wolf! (JQ) is at it again and some of the townspeople are running up the hill.

Bumping around the internet I've researched what is normal for growth, and contrary to what BlazerCaravan speculated, a vast majority of men are done by the age of 18. The few who do grow post 18 usually don't grow much. Of course there are outliers to most statistical patterns and Nicolas might have grown another inch at the age of 21 (hell, he might grow more), but that would be unusual... certainly more unusual then Quick relaying that yet another Blazer has gone on a late growth spurt. This seems to happen every fall... my guess is it's Elliott Williams turn in a year

it would be nice to get a recent real measurement on Nic as I can't take Quick at face value on much of anything he relays. The only real measurement on Batum that I'm aware of is from the Nike Hoops Summit in 2007 when Nic was 18. That measurement has him at 6'7.75 in shoes or about 6'6.5 barefoot with a 7'0.75 wingspan.

I'd encourage anyone who is interested in this to see what they can dig up and relay what they find :)

Anecdotally, my brothers and I were all done growing before our 16th birthdays. We're all over 6'3" too, so it was kind of a let down that none of us hit the 6'8"+ projections we were given in early childhood.

I was 5'2 when I turned 17 but could palm a basketball and had size 11 feet. In the span of maybe 5 months, I sprouted up to 5'10 which is where I stopped

I did the majority of my growing by my 15th birthday (5'11" at 14); I grew another two inches in college (6'1"); all the evidence I need to know it can happen. :D

So, I should have added a qualifier: it *can* happen, and does happen, but apparently my doctor was talking out of his ass when he said it was "normal". :D

I don't think he was in a predraft combine.
