Seriously.... wtf? Dallas burns me EVERY TIME I PICK THEM! Same with San Diego. God I hate parody in the NFL. I had a terrible week. Right now I'm 4/13
No shit... lately that's the best damn thing you can do. The fucking Bills almost won for pete's sake.
I think the Chargers, over the past 7 years or so, have been the biggest waste of talent I've ever seen in the NFL. They find ways to be disappointing.
Front office turmoil, oversized ego's and giving away Drew Brees has doomed that team. They certainly aren't the 93' Chargers that everybody grew to love.
College Football OWNED NFL this weekend. Can't wait to see a playoff system, hopefully this lifetime.
I think coaching has been a real problem. It's definitely not all coaching, though. In 2006, I believe, the Chargers had a 21-17 lead on the Patriots in the playoffs. They intercepted Brady in the final couple of minutes, which should have salted the game away...except the player who picked it off decided to try running it back and got stripped. The Patriots recovered and went on to the winning touchdown. The incredible thing is that I've seen footage of Schottenhimer, just before that game started, warning his defense that if they got an interception at the end of the game, with the lead, to just go down. I think that footage was on NFL Network's "Top 10 Coaches Who Never Won A Super Bowl" when they were discussing Schottenheimer. The Chargers just find or encounter ways not to reach the Super Bowl. Sometimes it's bad coaching, sometimes inexcusable player errors, sometimes key injuries at the worst time. It's pretty remarkable, IMO. As for giving away Brees, I don't think that was a big deal. Phillip Rivers was the smart choice...Brees was coming off an injury that most doctors didn't think he could recover fully from. Rivers has proven to be a top-tier quarterback. They couldn't have kept both, cost-wise. The Colts dealt Marshall Faulk for not a huge amount (they got a useful draft pick, I believe, but considering Faulk proved to be best running back since Barry Sanders, in my opinion, it was virtually nothing) and that didn't doom the Colts.
I strongly disagree that Rivers is a top-tier QB. When people say that it drives me nuts. Drew Brees and Eli Manning both have hardware, I think that bothers Rivers.
Brees, Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Favre, Manning, Ryan, Flacco, Cutler and then we can start discussing Rivers. There's still a few more QB's I'd currently have though. Shit, maybe even Romo over Rivers.
