According to the Bergen Record, a mega-deal involving the trades of Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony has fallen apart. The deal would have sent Chris Paul to the Trailblazers, Devin Harris and Kris Humphries to the Hornets, Derrick Favors to Denver, and Carmelo Anthony and Andre Miller to the Nets. Apparently Portland was the team that initiated the talks,

Yea but Cho is doing nothing according to posters on this board. So how can this possibly be true?

Wow... there would have to be more going from Portland (Joel and/or Batum?) but... that's would be fantastic.

Who knows how accurate this kind of report is, but if Denver is the team that is dragging its heels, that's good news. Carmelo looks like he wants out, and if/when Denver realizes it (and/or gets off to a slow start this year) they might be more willing to save themselves the embarrassment that Cleveland and Toronto went through.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Miller for Paul in terms of Portland's involvement? As much as I like Miller, that's too silly to be believed.

If true, Portland must have been kicking in quite a bit more than reported.

Personally, I hope Cho is on the phone constantly with New Orleans and anyone else necessary if he thinks Paul is even slightly available.

I am trying to remember where I read about this on another site but it said a host of Blazers would move with Miller spread out amongst the teams.

The article said Miller and a "boatload of blazers" so it wasn't just us losing miller.

Well, technically, he did accomplish nothing, if this story is true.

Cho reportedly got the talk started? Sounds like a proactive approach as a GM to me.

Well, since Roy apparently doesn't see himself as a traditional shooting guard, and the common wisdom is he wouldn't play well with a true point guard, and Roy pretty much said as much after sharing the backcourt with Paul in his first all star game, perhaps if we were to acquire Paul we could trade Roy for Carmelo (who I personally hate)? :devilwink:

Chris Paul is a different story. If Brandon started whining with Chris Paul on the team, I think most people would quickly tell him to shut the fuck up.

The former GM was known as being proactive, probably to a fault. I don't think anybody assumes that Cho is just sitting around planning the pizza toppings and finding the best specials for ABM's Greet and Meat.

Again, I would love to get Paul on the Blazers. If we can lock him up without moving Roy, Aldridge, or Oden, that's pretty big. I wonder if the play of Matthews and Rudy has made a difference lately? They've both been solid so far this preseason. Does Matthews make Batum more available? Has Rudy upped his value? Makes me wonder...

Absolutely. I have to think that Roy looks at Andre Miller, and how he is supposed to defer to him, and wonders what the fuck his coach is thinking. If Roy bitched with Chris Paul in Portland, that would be a completely different scenario in terms of how I would feel about Roy's recent comments.

Or, has Matthews made Roy available? ;)

As for Rudy, until he states he now wants to stay in the NBA, I don't think it matters how well he plays. Sitting out two years probably wouldn't be smart, but sitting out one year (the final year of his contract) isn't that big of a loss for him if he really does want to play for Real Madrid.

I think it was a bluff on his part. I don't think Rudy wants to go back to Europe. I think he wants to go to a team of his liking, and he's trying to use Europe as his trump card.

Maybe Matthews does make Roy available for the right price. Hard to say what Cho is thinking right now, but if Roy's name were involved, I think it would have been mentioned in that article. That would be too big to slip through the cracks.

Ha! Pretty hilarious if Roy were traded in tandem with Miller. ;)

I would rather see Roy and Paul playing together, but if Brandon is sticking to his guns about having the ball in his hands, I wouldn't be opposed to trading him for CP3.

Everything I know about Roy tells me he'd be thrilled to have an elite offensive PG who can defend, and not a solid one who plays Ole'! defense.

Hey, like I said, I would LOVE to see those two playing together. I think it would be the best backcourt in the NBA hands down.
