I don't think that proves the point you think it does. Priests chose not to have sex, but that doesn't mean they chose not to be hetrosexual (or have a sexual attraction to women).

The two aren't mutually exclusive. I used this analogy before, when I was in high school, I can say that I chose not to have sexual relations with women, but it didn't mean I didn't want to. I also chose not to have sexual relations with a few of my gay friends, even though I could've, and was physically capable of doing so (not that I was interested, as I wasn't).

My choosing to have or not have sexual relations did not play a role on whether or not I was hardwired one way or the other.

I could have sex with a man, I chose not to. I chose not to because I am not attracted to men, but I could.

 

there are several cases where what you're saying has instances where it doesn't jive with something else that is in the bible (because the bible itself is a compass, not the end all be all..meaning, it's open to interpretation, because itself was an interpretation).

Don't pick and chose one, or make a blanket statement.

Don't assume that someone who doesn't agree with your views is a bigot. If someone was saying "christians are lesser people" or "god hates christians", you'd (well, blazerprophet) would have a better leg to stand on.

 

The act of having sex is not the same as sexual preference. You said that it was about being able to procreate. Gays can procreate.

what do you say about couples who can't conceive due to infertility?

Seems too much emphasis is being put on sex, considering long term it's not as huge of an issue as this thread seems to imply it is.

Let me ask you this. If you were given the opportunity to be with your (ex?) wife for all of your days, but you never could have sex with her, wouldn't you jump at the chance?

Seems that it shouldn't be about the sex then, because if you were with someone you love, but never could have sex, you'd realize it's not about the sex. It's about love, companionship and compassion. Sex is just gravy.
