We should probably wait to see what the pick actually ends up being before we call it 'shit'.

I hope Pendy stays around. It's just wierd because before this weekend, if you were to ask who the two most intense players were on the team, I think many would say Bayless and Pendy . . . and now they are both off the team.

Not saying the Blazers are destroyed because of this, only commenting on losing two intesity guys back to back.

intensity, IE competitive. We just unloaded the only two guys on the team that have shown to have a mean streak. We were already soft, now we're memory foam soft.

I think when it was thought to be lotto protected it wasn't so good, when went to top 7 (and then top 8) that makes it much more likely that we'll actually get a late lotto guy if New Orleans is even remotely competitive (ie. 30 wins or so).

I think Matthews is a pretty high intensity guy too.

And neither were going to play much, so how much value did their intensity add to the team?

In other news, Rich Cho just traded away Greg Oden's best friend on the team.

A player can have a mean streak without squinting his eyes and dancing in the pregame. If I'm worried about toughness, its in our PF. Certainly not the backup combo guard and the 3rd string Center.

.....am I missing something here? Brandon Roy's best friend was Jarrett Jack.

Put me in the, "Whatever" category. Would have liked to get more for Bayless and think he can be an impact player in the right system, but that system is not the Blazers' under Nate. I'm not a Nate basher, just saying that Bayless's game doesn't fit with what Nate looks for in a PG. With Mathews ligthing up the preseason, I'd expect to see some run for Roy playing PG and it sounds like Johnson had moved ahead of Bayless in Nate's depth chart as well. So, where was Bayless going to play? No minutes available at 2G with Mathews & Rudy at that spot. I see this as a move to avoid the distraction of an unhappy Bayless, while also avoiding having to cut Pendergraph and keeping an option open to get a decent player in the future.

Give me a break. Should we have kept him as long as we did Webster, who never got any better?? Or as long as Outlaw, who also never really developed? I credit the Blazers for learning when to cut their losses.

Bayless had two years to show something, and he simply didn't show very much. I attended one of his best games, against New Jersey in his rookie year, but I never saw much from him after that.

So as a Blazer fan, we are hoping that NO falls apart again this year . . . to the point they don't make the playoffs and are the 8-10th worst team.

If No gets off to a slow start and Paul gets frustrated . . . I could see this senario.

It sounds like the player that is going to be playing alongside Brandon because of this trade is Wesley Mathews, he can defend and he can shoot, plus do a little bit of everything else. If anything Jerryd was probably the least suited guard to play next to Brandon because of his need to handle the ball, but inability to shoot and his propensity for "handsy" defense and less than stellar setup skills.

Meh whatever, it's done know, there's not much point in rehashing it all at this point.

That's laughable.... Have you forgotten what Outlaw looked like in his rookie season? There was a huge progression during his 6.5 years here. I think Travis hit his ceiling, but he actually became a major role player on a playoff team. Webster also had five years in Portland before we finally gave up on the experiment. Bayless got two years here. You think that was enough to gauge how good he was going to be in a Blazers uniform?

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just discovered it. The pick in 2011 is only top-7 protected, which makes it a slightly better deal than I thought.

Bayless is too intense and cocky for his own good. Monty is going to have a tough time managing him and CP3.

Maybe not, but I have a feeling the Blazers are somewhat over the "give a guy a chance" method of roster building and player development. They need productive role players and bench guys who can step in and contribute now and for whatever reason Bayless never fully seized the opportunity put before him. Hopefully this does two things: makes the Blazers better and more balanced, and allows Jerryd to find success somewhere else.

But what are the chances that New Orleans is the eighth worst team in the NBA this season? The only way I see that happening is if Paul goes down with an injury, or if they trade him.
