    I think Bill is on to something. I've never seen a fan base collectively believe that their team's players are so potential laden or about to bust out and have all-star years as so many of "we" do. Likewise this post almost proves his premise that we're a thin skinned insecure bunch

    I think it's pretty clear that Blazers fans bombard him with hate mail when he says anything that is even remotely non-complimentary of the team (forget even blatant negativity). I listened to his podcast the other day with Joe House and they were talking about the over-unders for each team, and you could tell he was already dreading the backlash for initially suggesting that the Blazers were probably going to under-perform their projected win total coming out of Vegas.

    My advice? Lighten up people, he doesn't hate our team, he doesn't hate our city, he just doesn't think we're elite and the Blazers are not elite yet -- you gotta get out of the first round to be considered elite (OKC being the exception because they have an MVP candidate on their team). The proof is in the team's play and they'll either make that leap to elite status or they won't and none of it will be influenced by the opinions or comments of Bill Simmons or any other national sports writer.

    even in fantasy drafts.... no blazer go very high. roy gets picked after westbrook, rose, and nash. la gets drafted after millsap, landry. i mean that is all you really need to know about the blazers roster.

    That's terrible logic.

    The Blazers play at a slower pace, so their statistics are deflated. It doesn't mean that they're bad basketball players in real life just because they aren't great in fantasy basketball.

    No. Why don't people who hate the guy, or are bothered by what he says just ignore him? Not saying you are bored by it, Platypus. Just the amount of whining people do about this guy amazes me. I got annoyed and turned off by his writing about 2 or so years ago, I think. His general lack of basketball knowledge started to wear on me. And what did I do? I stopped reading. Now I don't hear the dumb takes any more. Works great.
