Oh no doubt, when his shot isn't falling we will see what he does. I don't know if Roy is a consistent enough shooter to rely on his jumper 100%. He isn't Ray Allen. I just wonder if this shift isn't to protect his career, you don't think Roy is worried about his knees?

This preseason concern sort of reminds me of the tea baggers: getting all worked up over nothing. Remember when health care was about death panels and state funded abortions? Remeber when Roy went 1-6 in a preseason game?

I am sure he does, I also sure that he is such a competitor that if he feels good and the game is on the line, he will drive with authority.

Well he did say he was Kobe fan. Not sure how many years in to the league Kobe minimized the number of times he attacked the basket, but it has dramtically dropped off. I also think he is saving himself for when they absolutely need it. He constantly lands on the floor when he drives, that has to take a toll.

Well sure, when the game is on the line, but we're talking about a major shift in his game for the majority of his minutes. I'm not saying Roy will stop driving altogether, but slashing used to be a huge part of his game, but it caused him a lot of bumps and bruises. You just have to wonder if he's trying to become a shooter first and a slasher second.

Yeah, McMillan, Matthews, and Camby were all stupid to be so concerned.

As long as Roy is playing more off the ball - he will be more of a jump shooter. Roy's strength was always driving when handling the ball. It is just the nature of the beast, Roy's game was never Reggie Miller/Rudy like running off screens and cutting to the basket. If Roy is working on playing off the ball more - to integrate Andre better into the offense - he is not going to attack the rim that much.

And I think that's a good thing. I think it makes him more difficult to defend. If Roy has the ball in his hands, it's easier to key on him. Easier to double, and if he doesn't make the right pass, it can really bog down our offense.

    Nice try.

But, you started this thread on the 8th of October. The quote from the only link that actually works is dated on the 20th of October.

I don't see any quote from Camby.

Both Matthews and Camby rested because of non serious injuries because it was the preseason, both know that preseason doesn't mean shit. In fact, I think it was Matthews that said if it was the regular season he would of played through the achilles injury. Thats the different between preseason and regular season.

Uh, huh. And what's your point? The Blazers played like crap for much of the preseason, with Roy being the main culprit. McMillan and Camby and Matthews attested to this at various points during the preseason. So what?

Camby said the same thing that Matthews did: "We can just expect to flip a switch and start playing better."

That's odd. They both said they were concerned with the way the team was playing. If you don't believe them, maybe you should give them a call and tell them how you feel.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Don't ask Shooter. All he did was create the thread and a ton of posts complaining about how it was bad. Ask McMillan, Camby and Matthews.

Shooter is not to be asked. He knows the answer to why Roy's pre-season efforts hurt the team, but it's not his job to tell us. Direct all queries to McMillan, Camby and Matthews.

Who's complaining about the way Roy is playing now? I'm simply responding to posts directed at me, nothing more.

It shouldn't be ANYBODY'S job to tell you. The lousy preseason record speaks for itself.

Wrong about what? All I ever said was that Roy and the whole team should have been playing harder during the pre-season, and that's something that McMillan, Matthews, and Camby all agreed with. Of course, you wouldn't know that, since you haven't been paying attention.
