Matthews' Slow Start

I tend to catch a game here and there.

 

He was a starter as a rookie on a playoff team that made it out of the first round. The term scrub hardly defines Matthews.

 

Do you offer anything more than predictable ad hominem responses?

 

I didn't see any slow start last night. Wes shot 4 of 4 from the field in the first half for 11 points.

 

This gets my vote for post of the year.

 

Lots of ball security issues and he looked kind of ineffectual on defense. Not the best WM game I've ever watched.

Batum was just as bad if not worse. Not to mention Rudy. Ugh.

 

Batum and Rudy are on rookie contracts. Matthews is worse than Travis Outlaw so far, and at more than 2x the cost.

 

I think when the Blazers were scouting Matthews they forgot to realize he played in a much more uptemo system in Utah. He's wasted here playing Nateball.

 

That, or he is the 12 PER player we saw in Utah.

Matthews played well in the preseason. Perhaps he was one of the few trying on the court?

He is the biggest question mark for me right now. I expect him to break out tomorrow against the Bucks.

 

He just needs to find the groove. Matthews is a player, he'll get it going soon enough.

I wish he would shoot a couple less threes per game.

 

He's shooting them really off balance/rushed, if he would get set and keep his form/rhythm I think he'd see alot better results.

 

Yeah, I agree. The off-balance ones definitely aren't falling for him.
