Since everyone else is weighing in, I didn't want to be left out:

I don't find him witty, insightful, or complex. I agree that it is in all likelihood a shtick. For the most part I view him as a cursory irritant who occasionally starts a decent conversation by trying to inflame people. This I don't think is a personal attack, just an observation based on his pattern.

Is there a place for people like that?

Sure.

I personally feel however that his mission of conversation through inflamation sometimes goes too far cloaked in the myth that on a message board you can get away with saying whatever you want, to whoever you want. The disassociation that happens over the internet in some cases is magnified when the rules are for the most part "everything goes", you see clear examples of the fact that people type what they would never say in person.

As for MIXUM, I believe that his sense of entitlement as the unofficial "shitstirrer" that spur him to carry on with arguments long after most other people reasonably quit. "Someone else gets away with this so so should I" shows a lack of posting maturity that is either inherent for him, or part of his act... either way it is pretty obvious that in this case it was not welcome by a good portion of the community.

As someone who works in management for a megacorp you learn that intent is never measured when it comes to hurting others (we call it harassment, but that term is thrown around too much in my opinion), and if someone reasonably feels that another has gone outside the realm of what has been determined reasonable for the group, those responsible for maintaining order generally need to step in. While he may state that his INTENT was misunderstood or taken out of context, in a situation as complex and devastating as this, what he meant really doesn't matter, as what he said falls outside of what most people would feel is reasonable... some times you need to learn to filter a little bit. What he said was not idle conversation between fans, it caused actual HURT to some of the other members here, and regardless of intent, that moves it to the realm of "out of line".

So if he learns something about interpersonal communication from this, great, it doesn't seem from his message that he has but again, I am reading walls of text so I could be missing something. If he learns how to bite his tongue a bit instead of ALWAYS NEEDING to stir the pot, maybe that is enough, but that is for Denny and the Mods/Admins to decide.

I hope for his sake that he at least learns to be a bit more sensitive in the future, it can be fun to be the black sheep, but nobody should reasonable strive to be hated... if that is your goal in my opinion you are spending too much energy forcing yourself out of the community, instead of making yourself a part of it, and if that is the case, maybe you really do not belong in the first place, as your goals are not in line with the group you have attached yourself to... again something for he and them to figure out.

For those hurt by all of this, I offer my condolences, and I hope that one day pain, sadness, and anger can subside and everyone can remember Lucas for who he was, what he offered, and that this string of emotional conversations all end up as a vague memory in the rear view mirror...

How does Shooter not realize he is the only one who is taking HCP's picture that way? When I saw it, I saw it as a very sentimental picture. Lots of people in here were recounting the fight with Darryl Dawkins. Luke was known as an enforcer and HCP's picture is obviously a tribute to that. It's just plain stupid to think otherwise when you know any details about Luke or HCP. Just plain stupid.

Just. Read the last 150 posts of this thread in the bus. I am truly sorry if my avatar offends anybody on here. I can't change it on my iPhone, but when we land back in portland, I'll change it. That pic was of me and a very close friend of mine acting out his Dawkins fight. Right after that he punched me in the stomach he walked away laughing. For the few of you who think I put that on there to purposely offend anybody ..........

I never met the man and I can't speak for him. I will say that the guy was about as tough as you will find from the stories I heard as a child. Anyone with any sense would know that on the day that picture was taken he could have dropped you without standing up. Hell, he probably could have wiped the floor with most of us just a few days ago.

So, I gotta think that the guy would smile if he saw that pic on here right now.

I will keep my thoughts on this whole thread to myself. Nobody cares and it isn't worth fighting about.

I find most of your photo's with the team unentertaining, but that avatar gave me a smile and laugh. I vote keep it.

A suspension doesn't seem enough, yet a ban seems too harsh... May I recommend a middle ground: Miserable User. A nice optional add-on with vBulletin:
