Re: Thibodeau said he's comfortable using James Johnson at shooting guard in stretche I am glad. Of course I was suprised to see JJ at scoring guard against Portland. This is good for JJ. He went from being out of the rotation and a DNP in game one to being one of the reasons we beat detroit and being one of the first people off of the bench against Portland!
Re: Thibodeau said he's comfortable using James Johnson at shooting guard in stretche He didn't have all that great a showing last night, but that's sort of what I'm expecting from him. His upside is he's athletic and confident, so when he's doing the right thing, he's going to go out and keep doing it. But he's still pretty clueless about what the opponent is going to do on the court. A well coached, different-looking team, like the Knicks, is going to be able to go at him, and offensively he still doesn't have much patience or understanding for more than the most obvious of plays. That being said, he's still light years ahead of where he was last year, and seems to work hard, so I'd keep feeding him minutes. Probably more than most players, because of his lack of experience, I think JJ's minutes on the court are necessary to getting him a good feel of the game, but they might also be pretty painful from time to time.
Re: Thibodeau said he's comfortable using James Johnson at shooting guard in stretche He's kind of like the shooting guard version of Tyrus Thomas, isn't he? Let's hope he isn't as consistently frustrating.
Yes, but there's the big difference that Tyrus- before, during and after his time here- has never exactly been a willing student. JJ, on the other hand, seems a fair amount better in this respect.
Re: Thibodeau said he's comfortable using James Johnson at shooting guard in stretche And Tyrus was drafted above Brand Roy . . . that'll make it more frustrating!
