Blazers and Roy's agent both say they are taking a "wait-and-see" approach over the next week to see how Roy's knee reacts to less minutes

Blazers still haven't heard opinion of Roy's left knee from Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who just finished surgery on Blazers guard Elliot Williams

Here's what makes me question the Blazers medical staff. In the article it states that new no images of Roy's knee was taken because the medical staff FELT no acute injury has taken place. Now, why wouldn't they take new images of Roy's knee so Dr. ElAttrache would have the most up to date images on the knee. What, it wasn't in the budget to have images taken of your franchise player? I mean how much effort does it really take to sit Roy in a MRI machine to scan for new images? I just don't get it.

I have zero faith in the Blazers medical staff FWIW. I can't believe he is having these problems and they don't send him for an exam with something this monumental.

Nobody has any reason to trust the Blazer medical staff at this point.

I will put $10 on Roy playing less than 25 minutes today. I hope I'm out $10, though, I really do.

It makes no sense at all.

Why even bother at all if you're just going to send old scans?

Jason Quick just said on 95.5 The Game that no new MRI images have been taken on Roy's knee because Roy is claustrophobic and doesn't want to get into an MRI machine. REALLY!??? You are paying this guy $85 million! You do whatever it takes to make him get a new MRI. Who is running this organization?

I'm sorry, but that sounds like a blatant lie. That would be like Przybilla saying he didn't want surgery to repaid his tendon because he "was afraid of knives," or like McMillan saying he didn't want to run more than 3 offenses because he doesn't want to "get confused."

    ...wait a second...

Pure BS, I've had 3 MRI's done om my knees and for those only the lower body goes in the machine. Now I have claustrophobic issues as well and when they tried to get me in one for my shoulder that I could not do, so they gave me some king of drug then no problemo.

OHSU has an open gantry MRI scanner, much bigger and more open then regular MRI machines. It was originally made for scanning race horses, lol. (Not the actual scanner that OHSU has, that model was originally designed for scanning larger things.)

why posters are jumping to conclusions to blast medical professionals based on the latest from a proven lazy POS like Quick is beyond me. Based on years of his stuff, any Blazer fan should be aware that if it comes from Quick its worth taking with a grain of salt

What I found funny was the backhanded slap by the Oregonian in the paper. They reported on Roy's knee and then next to that article they posted bios of all the guys on the training staff, as if to say, "these are the fuckers you should blame."

I worked for a medical imaging center in college. I remember one time this older guy took one look at the MRI machine and started freaking the fuck out. He backed himself against the far wall from it. He went pale and started sweating while frozen in fear against that wall. It turned out that he was on a submarine in WWII that was torpedoed and they were barely able to surface.

We were finally able to get him out of the room, then after he calmed down the doctor shot him up with an ass full of Valium and he was able to get his scan done.

Might be his knee was in this condition in May. If so then nothing is new. That would be bad news though because it should have got better by now.

Hell, I've had two MRIs on my brain/head, and I'm clausrophobic as hell. Getting an MRI on my left knee (done twice as well) was nothing compared to having my head put into a little halo thing that covers your face as well, going in headfirst instead of feet first like I did for my knee, and keeping your head and body still for an hour to the point you're almost afraid to blink because you don't want to have to start the scan over.

I find the claustrophobic excuse by Quick very funny.

I just posted about my head/brain MRIs, and they gave me a muscle relaxer as well both times. It wasn't easy, but I got through them both.
