Next time you need to have one on your upper body tell the person scheduling the MRI that you're claustrophobic and ask for them to provide Valium. The exam will take a little longer and you'll have to have someone drive you home but it will make it much easier for you.

Maybe I am in the minority here and maybe this deserves its own thread but does anyone find it unusual that the Blazers team doctors DID NOT perform the surgery on Elliot Williams. I have not seen anyone discuss this and find it rather odd that no mention of this was made given the track record of our players injuries.

If you were Elliot Williams would you let them?

It is his body so he does get final say on who does what to it.

Unless he happens to pass out in Zbo's hotel suite at the Hotel Vintage Plaza.

You get that off a online article of a guy going on a rampage in Portland, right? I read the article and showed my wife his pic and it scared her. :)

You're retarded, and you should feel bad, because the answer is obvious, dumbass.

The Blazers wanted him to actually get a good surgery.

    Duh.

On another note, while I am not an orthopedic surgery and have no expertise on knee injuries other then general knowledge of time frames for the healing process, I also must add that I find this whole story rather strange that an orthopedic surgeon who receives the MRI images on Wednesday afternoon has not had time to look at the images yet and to come to a conclusion as to what he thinks he sees on the films. I am a podiatrist, order a fair amount of MRI's myself for my patients and when I get the images literally it takes me like 10 minutes to see what I need to see (if that). I am certain that the films have already been looked at, it would be silly if they haven't yet. My belief is that they were looked at and the doctor recommended a new series of films to be taken in order to compare and see if there was any new structural damage. Since the Blazers did not do this ahead of time I believe that they probably got Roy another MRI and will forward the new results of this to the LA doctor so he can compare the films. The reason they dont want to say anything is because I believe they don't want to jump the gun and say Roy is fine when they never ordered new films in the 1st place. I know quick is quick and has gotten many stories wrong in the past, but if this story is true and you read between the lines the Blazers medical staff are a bunch of idiots. THat might be why Cho saught out this other doctor to not only do Williams surgery but also evaluate Greg and Roy's films.

I think we can all assume that the Blazers have heard of UPS, and didn't need Cho to hand-deliver whatever he hand-delivered.

Not sure what the Blazers would even add this detail... the whole thing is confusing.

Wow, thanks for the insight. That was a pointless post. With all of the questions pertaining to the Blazers medical staff and even recent articles written by Joe Freeman about who they are it was definitely a question that should be asked as to why the Blazers own team doctors did not do the surgery and if they are not the ones doing the surgery any longer are they being let go. There is no need for personal attacks.

...it was a joke. I totally agree with the question. I was trying to be funny. Please take the joke.

No worries. Seriously though, with this place its hard to tell what is and is not a joke. Being in the medical field and knowing how all this stuff works one thing is clear to me.......we do not even know half of this story, and I am sure it goes much deeper then any of us will ever know.

Wow, you're a podiatrist? I saw one when I was a kid for ingrown toenails. I had just gone on a huge growth spree. He discovered that I had flat feet and that was not only the cause of the ingrown toenails but was the reason I had minor case of scoliosis and shine splints. He made me some custom orthotics and I never had a problem with any of that stuff again. It was interesting how a problem with your feet can cause problems throughout the entire body. Nice guy, told me how podiatrists treat the cause of the problem and not the symptom.

Yeah, I am a podiatrist in the Bay area but grew up in Oregon. Everything that you say is true. Its funny when I read stories like the one today where Oden talks in the SI article about some specialists believe that his left knee pain is likely tied to surgery he had on his right hip in 6th grade. He likely has a limb length discrepency which can be adresses conservatively with custom orthotics modified with a heel lift on his shorter side. I would hope that someone has measured him for this and has addressed this issue many moons ago but with the Blazers medical staff your never sure.

I posted the same thing the day of the trip to LA. I'm not a doctor, but I work with many doctors/specialists, and I too found it hard to believe that the specialist in LA couldn't take 5 minutes to look at the imaging. Anything extraordinary would jump out right away, and any slight potential areas of concern would show up on one of the images. He took the time to do a physical consult on Oden and Williams, but he couldn't squeeze in a quick look at Roy's knee images?

At this point, may I ask you to please send a PM to HCP so he can give it to Mike Barrett. Pretty please? I'm serious.

Do you want me to PM HCP wht you quoted or or do you want me to PM him to see if Oden has been measured for a shorter leg and to find out if he wears orthotics? I am not sure exactly what you want me to PM him, but I would be glad to. Just let me know what you want me to ask. Also I must add as a disclaimer, that any general medical information that I provide as knowledge is ONLY an educted guess since I am not privy to any of the players charts, including any of the tests and or surgeries that have been performed. I don't want people to misinterpret what I say and base it as if I am stating it as a fact when I will never know that information. However, I am not sure if you remember when Martell had foot surgery and tried to come back early I had posted that based on the description of his injury (jones fracture) and what the typical recovery time should be, I thought he rushed back and sure enough he re-fractured it and was out the rest of the season.

You are the first poster I've ever repped! It's good to see someone in the medical field express their opinion on the Blazer's medical staff.

Can someone explain how repping works?

I frequent Reddit, so I'm generous with upvotes, but I'm not sure that's the point here...
