Mouth/Bite wounds are gnarly. I hope it goes well.

Pretty sad that this wasn't treated the night of the injury. Apparently he went to his hotel that night and then woke up in the morning in severe pain and called the trainer. The problem with bite wounds is that there are many different types of bacteria hiding in your gums/teeth that can infect a wound. IMO they should have been on it right after the game. It should never have progressed to the point of surgery!?! My word...

This sounds a lot better than the original 2 weeks estimate. Lucky for us we have a long layoff after Monday's game and don't play again until Friday.

When can we fire Abdenour though? I know the Knicks medical staff treated Lee but is it that hard to prevent an infection? I know human bite wounds are particularly bad but it seems like the focus should have been on preventing infection. I know Beans went away from the W's team doctor/medical staff this offseason to recover from his various injuries. I think the fans have already lost all faith in Abdenour and the staff and perhaps the players have too.

Yeah, I thought of Abdenour, too, but it's more on the medical staff and Lee (to consent to treatment) in order to prevent infection. I think Abenour comes in to help get Lee back on the court ASAP once he's cleared. Perhaps he needs some kind of protective, yet flexible sleeve, more heavy duty than the arm warmers.

Latest on Lee. Interesting to note that the W's were open about this and made Lee's doctor available to the media- no doubt a sign of change in the organization.

That being said, it sounds like the dude is fluffing it up and reading on a script from Raymond Ridder.

maybe i'm being ignorant, but what's the holdback on playing him? is he gonna re-infect the cut?? wrap that shit up!! yeah, maybe it's susceptible to breaking open again and whatnot, but come on. the whole article makes it sound very positive, and then at the end they're talking about a possible 3 weeks!? fuck that. get back in there.

Hes still hospitalized and isn't expected to be out until the end of the week. Just read an MTII piece where he said he talked to Riley and Riley said that the second procedure to clean it out seems to have done the trick and hes "turned the corner". Lee is still on intravaneous (sp?) antibiotics and perhaps still on IVs? Said the swelling is going down though that also implies its still swollen, probably has limited motion and pain.

Sounds like they're being extremely cautious to make sure the infection is gone and will not come back which is the hold up. Said they want to get it 100% back before putting him back in as they're rather he miss the extra couple games than more long term injury.

The issue is that the cut is not fully healed. If it's still open, it is susceptible to infection again. Playing with an open wound obviously isn't the best course of action.
