Yeah, put down the bagels. LOL Bagels are one of the worst breakfast meals you can have. If you want some carbs, eat whole wheat toast with some cinnamon. Cinnamon is great for metabolizing your blood sugar and helps with cholesterol levels as well. http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/10-health-benefits-of-cinnamon.html I'd also add some kind of protein to your breakfast as well. It will help suppress your appetite throughout the day.
Yeah, I could stand to lose about 15 pounds. I've got some extra fat on my stomach that I need to burn off. Since I've been working out I haven't been losing any weight since I've been adding so much more muscle. I do think I'm losing some inches though since my belt isn't as tight anymore.
You have to lower your body fat %, you can't control what places your body stores fat at. Weight train to maintain as much muscle mass as possible. Then do cardio to burn calories, and make sure your burning more calories than you consume. If your caloric deficient then your body will have to cut weight. Don't be in a rush, its better to have these changes gradually.
Yeah the bagel probably isnt the best, but because I burn so many calories sometimes I actually need more calories/carbs. The OxyElite Pro really suppresses my appetite. My normal workout: Elliptical= 1 hour/ 760 Calories Incline Treadmill= 15 minutes(2.5 minute jog)/ 160 Calories Usually I'll do a little weight lifting for about 15-20 minutes as well. So my calories burned, according to the machines is about 950-1000 (including weights). Overall, I'm usually eating about 12-1500 calories a day without the working out, so about 200-500 after burning them in a workout. I'm 5'6 and 167.6, so I probably will have to get down to about 150-155 to really lose it, correct?
Your whole diet seems to consist of carbs. Muscle burns more calories. To build muscle, need to eat more protien. I would do a good workout in the morning on an empty stomach and add some weight work. Those weight numbers also sound high for someone 5'6". Depends on your body type and how much muscle you have. I am 5' 9 1/2" and feel overweight if I am over 160.
Have always had chicken legs, dispite putting up decent weight. Think I figured out why. Have always done 3 sets of 12. Did four sets of 20, 16, 12, and 8 today and felt the difference.
You should never work out (at least lift weights) in the morning, and you should never lift weights on an empty stomach.
I agree that you aren't supposed to work out on an empty stomach. Your body actually cannibalizes itself and will tear down muscle to create energy. But working out in the morning is not bad if it works for you. Here's an article from bodybuilding.com:
I should have made that two different sentences but also would say it depends on your goals. http://www.askmen.com/sports/bodybuilding_60/68b_fitness_tip.html
Hmm I guess all the stuff I hear about doens't have anythign to do with fat loss, it's more just muscle building. Their are a few bodybuilders at my school and they refuse to lift anything before being awake for at least 5 hours and having a few meals in them. But they never talk about fat loss, to the degree that an average person is trying to lose.
This is the best thread on the Blazer's forum. Guys, I've found a good idea for a douchebag t-shirt. Once I reach the size I want to be, I'm going to make a shirt that says: I'm toning, bro.
Nice! Keep it up man. That's the best when you actually start seeing the results. My tits are growing! My arms are also showing much better definition. Now, I just need to work on a 6-pack. My body stores fat on my stomach so it's gonna be a bitch to actually get there. I can't stop eating when I do heavy cardio and lift heavy. My body just craves fuel. I need to find some way to control my appetite better.
You could also make one that says: FRONT "Some guys lift for power. Some guys lift for reps." BACK "I do both!"
I'm not really getting ripped but I'm liking the results so far. Good job on your end too. It seems a lot of the guys here have to watch what they eat while they lift. Luckily, I have a really low body fat % and high metabolism (probably because I'm young?) so I can eat whatever. Was that sentence douchey?
