smart ... and hey, ten minutes of a somewhat productive Joel is probably 10X more valuable than anything they'd give to Marks.
Only 10x? It'll sure be great to see the Thrilla back. Camby-Joel gotta be one of the top C duos in the NBA with their D. Can't wait.
Curious how the Pryz/Camby combo plays out as the season progresses. As much as a lot of you guys bagged on Pendy, him in the mix with these guys could have proven successful, IMO, as well.
Exactly; Pendy (uninjured, of course) was worth 10x whatever random stiff we put into place to back up Camby. He had a shot out to 15 feet if needed, and a nose for a rebound... and he laid the lumber down like a champ.
It'll be nice to have Joel back, but rebounding isn't our problem. Scoring is. I'm ready for him to get his trade value up and we can legit scorer in trade.
I'm not sure I'd trade Przy and attempt to ride a 36 year old Camby 36 minutes a game as our center... unless we can get a scoring center like Kamen back, I'm real hesitant to trade large for small.
I like Joel a lot and he'll add needed depth but he ain't no "season changing" player, especially coming back from the injury he had.
So do you think they can win it all this year? I think if you believe they can then holding onto Joel is a good move. However, if you think they will lose in the playoffs again, then trading Joel for a piece that might help us down the road could be a better way to go.
Short story: we won't win the championship in the next ten years, period. I say this only because I'm very optimistic and am not saying "never". No Free Agent of note will come here; no player will stay here beyond their rookie contract. This is a dead franchise walking. Let's at least keep the coals glowing, because if we blow this team up to rebuild, it will not come back. So yeah, I'd rather trade Joel for a center than Joel for a guard.
