At this point, do not be surprised at how little we get in return for Oden. I agree with the idea many have voiced in that Oden needs a fresh start and no one is going to give us an All-Star in return. There are multiple centers that I would trade him for even up.
Hell no. Short of Griffin, I'd give up Oden for no one. I think Oden is the most untouchable player on our roster. He will get healthy and we'll get at least 11/10/2.5 out of him for many years.
Eleven games, 10 surgeries and 2.5 dick pics? Seriously though, I hope that maybe he just hadn't finished growing until now, maybe this will be his last surgery ever? (crosses fingers)
Have you watched Roy Hibbert or Brook Lopez play lately? Swap either of those two for Oden straight up and we would become contenders. It is questionable if healthy that Oden produces as much as these two.
I'll trade Oden even up for Durant. Why it works for us: We could use a wing scorer with Roy's future uncertain. Why it works for them: It doesn't. So?
So, you wouldn't trade Greg Oden straight up for Dwight Howard????? Seriously????? Dwight Howard doesn't turn 25 until a couple weeks from now, but is already in his 7th NBA season and has only missed a total of 3 games. His career averages are 17.6 PPG, 12.6 RPG and 2.1 BPG. He's already led the league in rebounding 3 times and blocked shots twice and is the two time Defensive Player of the year and is currently averaging almost 22 PPG. And, did I mention, he's only 24 (almost 25) and has never had a serious injury? BNM
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Have YOU? Brook Lopez averages 6.3 rebounds in 35 minutes per game. He also shoots 42% from the field! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Yea, right, that dud would make us a contender, lol. The Blazers fan base would turn on him the day he arrived. How does a seven footer not grab 7 rebounds in 35 minutes of play? And how does he shoot only 42% from the field? That would make us a contender?
Oden had the 8th best PER in the league last season and he was still shaking off the rust. After this next surgery, he could be healthy the rest of his career and pay at or above Howard's level. We just have to be patient. Trust me. You don't want to see him dominate in another team's uniform and that's what will happen if we trade him.
Notice how Miami has struggled with three all-stars and a cast of new players? New Jersey did about the same thing, but was only able to land role players like Travis Outlaw, Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, and Johan Petro. Troy Murphy has not produce either. There is a reason they are not making him available in the Carmelo discussions.
My guess is that he started a legitimate question and then turned it into one of his threads where he takes an impossible position to only talk nonsense.
So let's be clear. You would like us to start a 7 foot center who grabs 6.3 rebounds in 35 minutes per game and shoots 42% from the floor. And you'd be fine with that. And that would make us a contender. Did I get that right?
And Howard's was better (24.0 vs. 23.1), and he did it for 82 games, at 34.7 MPG, not 21 games at 23.1 MPG. And Howard's was better the year before (25.6) and is better now (26.0), and he does it year, after year, after year without missing a game. Howard logs big minutes, produces better than Oden and never gets hurt. No contest. That's the problem. How many surgeries has Oden had? How many has Howard had? Given their track records, I'd bet on Howard. He's played over 500 NBA games and almost 18,000 minutes without a single major injury. Oden has played 82 games and 1800 minutes and had five major injuries. Look, I love Greg Oden and wish him nothing but the best, but you'd have to be fucking insane to turn down a trade of Greg Oden for Dwight Howard if it was offered. Oden's upside, IF he can ever stay healthy, is Dwight Howard. Howard is insanely productive AND durable, and still only 24 (for a couple more weeks). How could anyone in their right mind turn down that trade (not that it would ever be offerred)? BNM
Look at his two previous seasons instead of 13 games. As said WATCH him play instead of just looking at the numbers this year since he has almost an entire new team. 50% FG%, 80%FT, 8+RBs, two blocks His point average went up from 13 to close to 19 last year. Want to make a wager on his numbers staying that low?
