This place seems much quieter lately. The game threads use to be 16 pagers, now 6 pages after a 6 day lay off. Just seems dead.... the blazers, the fans, and these boards.
Games like last night will drive folks away, losing is never fun but when a team plays with energy and a decent offensive plan it's okay and N.O is very good. But if they play like last night after 6 days off in front of 18000 fans its not good.
Was getting outrebounded by 21 on your home court a surprise? There is losing, and then there is losing without putting out effort. The latter is unacceptable.
Okay, this is a pro-Mixum thread. I haven't read the game thread, and I missed the game, so despite not knowing anything, I just wanted to say the obvious. On second thought, I suppose it's the way we lost, not whether we lost.
I know for the last few weeks all the negative news has made me want to distance myself from Message Boards relating towards basketball so I can see a few people doing the same thing. Also people travel for the holidays, And home games it seems like the game threads are always shorter, not sure why that is.
Im half tuning out basketball in general. I can't put so much of myself into this team anymore. Maybe later in the season it will get better but right now its not fun.
I can say that I was super excited about this season a month ago... now, Oden hurt again, Brandon game to game, and the coach still being lost on a nightly basis has made me think why waste the two hours watching uninspired ball? You can't watch the Lakers, Celtics, Thunder, Hornets, Jazz and think the Blazers are even close to that level! Losing is expected to a point it's the NBA, but not by 20 on your home court on Thanksgiving weekend! Come On!
"Jumping ship" would imply that the ship is still on the surface. This is more like "crawl out the torpedo tube and paddle for daylight."
I see no reason to participate in a forum where you count among the more reasonable members. The team is experiencing significant troubles, and this forum has become a shithole, one of your careful parentage. You should be proud of the environment you've influenced. Being away from this place has made me a better, calmer, and happier fan; perhaps others have realized the same thing, that your poisonous style (and the similar approaches of others slightly less reviled than you) bleeds into every aspect of thought surrounding the team if one takes this place too seriously. In short, this place nearly ruined my ability to enjoy the team, and I'm glad to be gone. But I wanted to give you the satisfaction of knowing you've driven people away from this place. You deserve that, because you have worked very hard at it. Congratulations.
I personally was watching the Ducks last night. I don't know... this season is just so uninspiring. I had high hopes, but with Oden out and Roy's future in question, it's all just so depressing. It's easier to distance myself a bit because otherwise it just ruins my day and I don't need that in my life right now. I still tune into games and I check box scores/recaps/highlights, but it's much easier to look at a loss like last night and say, "shit happens." My hopes are for a trade. I'm looking more towards the future and less at the present. I think we need to make a trade before the deadline, moving our expirings for something that's going to help us down the road. I'm also looking at the draft and free agency. I really don't think this team, as currently constructed, has a chance at getting out of the first round, and even the playoffs are iffy at this point. I'd rather make some trades, get some more talent, and look to build around Batum, Aldridge, Matthews, and maybe Johnson.
its my fault the team has gone from contender to lotto? im not making anyone post anything. sometimes the truth hurts.
I haven't found the silver lining to this season yet. When we were rebuilding we had stories to follow like Theo Ratliff's setting the franchise blocks per game record, Przybilla's performances against the leading centers in the league and Zach's overall development. Then, of course, we got Roy and LA and they had terrific rookie years. Rudy came in and set the rookie 3 pt record and Batum turned out to be a great surprise. Now I enjoy following Matthews, and Johnson to a lesser extent, but I don't have the same sense of optimism I had 5 years ago. Plus I'm working on my thesis for my masters in computer science so I don't have as much time to post in games threads as I used to....
i dont think people are jumping ship, i think people have realised just where we're at and where we're likely heading and it's just pretty hard on your heart as a fan. also, there isnt really too much to talk about these days... we're injured to fuck n back.... done to death roy this, GO that.... done to death we need a new PG.... done to death we're in some desperate need of 'good' news
