You can say Roy was Roy, but by all accounts his defense was almost non-existant -- it may have been merely average before -- but if he's really as hobbled as it seems and is effectively only playing one end of the court trying to preserve himself, then this team is going to struggle like hell to contain opponents with such a thin frontline and so much pressure put on the wing positions to try generate stops or cover the deficiencies on the interior.

Good points. If Roy continues to mail in his defense I hope Nate outs an end to it.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yeah, I meant Roy was pretty productive on the offensive end. On the defensive end...well, I'm not sure he was even average in the best of times. He's always saved himself for the offensive end, in my opinion. He may be even worse now, which adversely affects the team, but that doesn't really explain why all his teammates produced little to nothing on the offensive end.

This roster if ever 100% healthy would be a lock for the title, assuming Nate is at his best also.

Sadly, we'll never have all 3 centers at the same time, maybe not even 2 for long periods. Still, even 1 of them is enough to take us all the way.

LaMarcus is a star PF. We have absolutely nobody else of any value at this position.

Nic is turning into a legitimate starting SF, but again he's the only real SF we have now.

Roy's demise is overstated, he's still a lock for the allstar team as long as he's in the game. We don't have a solid backup for him that doesn't require more PT at SF, and that hurts us at the backup SF position. Neither Rudy nor Wes is as good there as Travis and Martell were.

Andre has carried this team, but is aging. Armon seems good enough to be his backup, but it's doubtful he'll ever start ahead of him.

    Still needed this year:

Healthy centers for the future, genuine backup PF, genuine backup SF, genuine backup SG, PG of the future.

The Choad has really dropped the ball by not addressing the big man situation at all. He could have used Bayless to get a pretty good backup.

Really? You think in his present condition he's still an all-star?

The team lacks players with what I call a good "Motor". Players that come to play every night. Right now, you are lucky if you can get some of them to play a quarter hard.

Probably a lack of continuity because of having to adjust their roles on the fly. When healthy, Roy dominates the ball and guys take a backseat role, but when he's not it forces people to move up a spot in the pecking order ... and Roy may still try to dominate the ball.

I shouldn't say too much because I've missed the last two games, but my guess is that this team is having a real identity crisis right now -- It's possible that they don't know who they are or even who they should be on an individual or team level.

I totally agree. The main trouble I see is that all of their heavy hitters are either slow starters (Roy) or have a game that is more finesse based than power based (Aldridge and Batum). Matthews is an energy guy and so are Dante and Armon, but that's part of the problem right there, those guys are something like 6th, 9th and 10th in the depth chart; there's nobody in the top 3 with a "fuck you" attitude that looks to ram the ball down their opponent's throat and/or abuse them on D.

    Igoudala plays inconsistently as well.
