Carl Crawford. 7 years. $142 million.

They're gonna be scary good next year.

This pretty much ensures Lee will be a Yankee. They'll probably offer him more than they originally planned.

Well, so far it's reported 6/$140 mil...and I don't think the Rangers are going to be able to go that high.

Oh, and I agree, fuck the Red Sox.

I didn't think they would pony up that kind of dough. Between Gonzalez and Crawford, they are spending over 300 million in a week.

Yup...way to pull a Yankees of two years ago, when they shelled out $450mil on three people.

Oh, and damn you guys for this now too, because the Yankees have apparently added a 7th year to the Lee deal. By my guess, that's going to push that deal close to 7/$163mil or so. I'd be ok with this...if it wasn't for the fact that he's going to be turning 40 at the end of that deal.

It all comes down to fan support. The Red Sox were starting to lose it. TV ratings were down, they were selling less and less merch and tickets. The fans showed they weren't going to let them get away with being cheap when they have the money to spend (clearly).

They would have traded for Gonzalez either way, but the Crawford signing is definitely a business decision because he's the exactly the kind of signing they don't usually make.

You happy mamba? Espn guys saying now Angels are involved in Lee bidding but who knows if they can beat the yanks. Probably ups the chances of getting your boy Beltre though. He's desperate to play anywhere but Oakland and looking for someone else to match their offer to him.

Bring it Sox. Giants want desperately to whoop the Sox or Yanks asses and make the east coasters STFU.

hahaha the Giants were a complete fluke. They are more likely to miss the playoffs than repeat next year.

Jays have the best future, but how they're gonna make the playoffs I have no fucking clue.

Giants have a solid team, if they make the playoffs again; they could very well win again. Even with Crawford & Adrian, SF has on hella team.

    Fuck the Sox & Yanks.

The Giants are actually damn good. They have a phenomenal pitching staff that's only going to get better next year with the improvement of Bumgarner. I wouldn't be shocked if they win their division again, to be honest.

And I don't think there's going to be a $200mil contract handed out this offseason. The only person who'd be remotely worth it that's left is Lee, and he's not going to get a long enough deal to get to those numbers.

I don't think that either. I bet in the next 5-7 years though, we'll see one if there is no salary cap implemented.

They should have a cap. This outrageous spending by 2 teams is shit.

Well, we've already seen 2 - both of ARod's last ones. He signed the 10yr/$250mil with Texas, and then resigned with a 10yr/$275mil with the Yankees. So we've seen them, but I just don't foresee a pitcher getting what any time soon. Maybe when Felix or Lincecum are in FA, but those are about the only two elite pitchers that are young enough to justify a 10yr/$200mil+ deal.

^I agree on those being the pitchers or players who will actually get that money.

I though Carl was the only guy who woulda came close to 200 mil, after him - Lee will be closest. I say 160 mill.

I never thought Carl was going to come close to $200mil. He just doesn't produce enough in the HR/RBI numbers to do it in my book.
