Whichever one of you crazy kids came up with that gem of a nickname, I want to thank you for doing so. It's simply fantastic. Step out of the crowd and take a bow!
yuyuza1 did, as I recall. While I don't think it's fair to evaluate Cho so early, I did think it was clever. Kinda akin to the former Mariners (and Blue Jays/Phillies) general manager, Pat Gillick, who had the nickname "Stand Pat."
I know its convenient to bag on Cho. But, do we really know how much autonomy he has? I mean really, the GM search went from someone with experience putting together solid teams (Pfund and Ferry) to a guy with no GM experience. Without knowing PA is giving him free reigns with the roster, I'm not convinced that he should be labeled as Status Cho yet. Then again, we suck right now, so using him as a scapegoat is par for the course around here.
There were already several rhyming nicknames posted since Cho was hired. The search function says this latest takeoff started last night, Pacific time.
