No Curry or Beans for GS. No Roy, Batum, Camby, Przybilla and obviously no Oden for PDX. Lou two early fouls, offense hard to come by on both sides thus far.
Andre Miller looks fugging great. Monta chucking up some bad shots. Lee looks like a little more explosive tonight. Dunno if it was the three days off or conditioning but looking more spry than the last several games.
same shit, different day...missing free throws, stupid turnovers, missing easy shots, fouling in dumb situations.... so frustrating to watch.
we repeatedly put ourselves in the position to take a low-percentage shot....and then when we finally catch a break and get to the rack, we blow the layup....ridiculous.
Horrible shot by Monta. Dam. He should have took it to the hoop. He could have passed out if the shot wasn't there, but again it was too individual.
I totally agree. His last shot was a microcosm of everything that is wrong with GS right now. Everyone standing around, and one guy going one-on-one and forcing something off balance.
agreed...drive to the rack!!! it's now 5:45am for me, and once again the warriors have robbed me of my sleep. so much to complain about, but i'm gonna go pass out instead...
I think with 8 seconds left you give it to your best player and hope for the best. He still should have taken it to the rack with 3+ seconds left but I guess he thought he didn't have enough time for that. It almost went in. Oh well, total failure.
These injuries are definitely not helping our playoff chances (if there were any, I think there were actually but we could not afford injuries.) And just like all the seasons before, we'll suck before all-star break, we won't have any all-stars elected by the coaches, and we'll go on a winning streak only to ruin our draft lottery chances and we won't make the playoffs. It's like deja vu for every season except 2006-07. Once we get back Curry and everyone else stays healthy, we should be watchable again. Curry + Lee are my only real keepers at this point. We could swap Kevin Martin and Monta Ellis and I seriously would not care. If we traded Beans for some shorter, stalkier center that could give us 10/10 consistently I'd be happy. Beans' only real value is he's a great rebounder and he's consistent. All the other parts of his game are really average or below average. The fact he's young gives us some hope that we'll see big improvements as he gets stronger. The good news is Cohan is not the owner and this is not even the real first year without Cohan since Cohan was around during the offseason. His being around affected what offseason moves could be done. His minions made the decisions on several contracts which caused us to be where we are now. e.g. Maggette, Sjax, getting nothing for Jrich essentially
Last night's rematch was a very interesting display by the Warriors. Curry was back and the offense was running like it did at the start of the season with a lot of movement by all and lots of Ellis moving without the ball. However when Curry got winded he went to the bench and in came Reggie Williams. The offense run by Ellis immediately went back to the garbage offense we have seen for much of this month. The problems are that Monta takes too much time to set anything up, the whole team becomes frozen off the ball and the main set is te high pick and roll again. The two things to fix this is work a lot more on this in practice or only sub an actual pg in for Curry, like Law, at all times. I believe that Law for Curry sub is what they actually did in the second half instead of Williams. So in effect we saw the really good promising warriors and the really dull warriors in the same quarter just from one substitution. Last thing on the offense is that it was nice to see Lee finally knock down some of his jumpers. He got a good rhythm going. I also think we lose his production when we set him outside the three point line. Move him a few feet closer to the hoop and he's a much bigger threat. So I hope when he sets the screens it's closer to the basket and not so far away he can't do anything if he were to get the ball. Udoh played well again. Wasn't a hopeful comparison for Udoh, Marcus Camby? I think he played more or less very close to that comparison. He could have done just a little bit more on the boards, but overall very solid game from him. Last two things: the rebounding sucked, and officially the bench is the least productive in the league. First Portland had way too many second chance opportunities and points. The problem is that not all players, many times only one or two were fighting or playing for the board. Nobody was blocking the Blazers off the board, except for Udoh at least on the one board. Jim Barnett singled out Ellis on one rebound for not blocking his man who ended up with the offensive board; but I also saw this from Vlad, Lou, and others throughout the night. The players were neither aggressive going for the missed shot nor spent any energy to block out. Yes Andris would have helped here but there is no excuse for how bad the rebounding was. The rebounding was disgusting. Also I saw on ESPNs broadcast a stat that showed the Warriors starters average above 75% of the team's points. This is the most from any team in the league. This is not surprising but just more evidence the team needs some help from the bench.
Udoh with a few more deft post moves last night too. They're included in this highlight vid: After we drafted him and I watched him play I knew he had great footwork and looked good throwing some spin moves, pivots, etc. but once it came time to release a shot he never got much separation and just flat out wasn't a great finisher. Seems like his moves are now yielding him a bit more space but above all hes hitting those baby hook type of shots from 5-10 feet out with regularity. I LOVE how in control he is and how he takes his time. Still makes a lot of rookie type mental mistakes but those are to be expected and typically get ironed out with experience. Also, after not registering any blocks his first 3 games (of very limited minutes) hes had 3 blocks in each of his three games since. His sotblocking seems to be translating quite well and to be honest I'm getting excited to see him earn more minutes and hopefully at the end of the year get some starts. Wonder what kind of numbers he would put up in 36 mpg. Guy is so polished, Riley is looking good on this pick so far. Damn it was nice to see Lee hit those jumpers. In the last few games hes been finishing very well with that left arm too. It seems to be getting healthy.
