of course you were lmao wallace sucks. camby and miller are all stars in hcps world cause they give his ego the time of day
If there really is a lockout next year, then even if we did re-sign Camby and Miller they are going to be 36 and 38 the next year they suit up. Yikes. I think you really do have to do that trade. I'm a much bigger fan of Camby and Miller than I am of Wallace, but the meter is running on those guys. Besides, if Charlotte continues to flame out like it has been, Miller might be an easy acquisition for us to get after the lockout anyway. His star will have fallen and a lot of GM's will look at his age and pass on him. Kind of like when we traded away Blake and the re-acquired him the next season.
I agree that the meter is running on Miller and Camby and I think that Cho needs to find a way to move them so that the Blazers don't lose their value after this year. None of us know whether this is the best deal out there that accomplishes that. As far as re-acquiring Miller, I'd really be surprised if either side would be looking at that after the lockout.
I love Wallace's game....... but I hate DJ's as much! Diop is an overpriced scrub! I think we could get much more fro Camby and Dre.
Augustin is the player LMA really wanted prior to that draft. Of course being a fellow Texas Longhorn I'm sure that wasn't a biased opinion.
One of my buddies just texted me that this deal is dead. Not sure of source yet, but he said he read it online.
I don't like the deal. Again, there has got to be better deals out there. 2 years ago. I probably do it. But, the way Wallace plays with reckless abandon, I don't think he's going to be a player that is really effective at an older age. Then Augustin is a way undersized PG. Diop has a horrible contract and sucks. I'm sure there is better options out there.
2 seasons ago this trade would have been: Steve Blake/Travis Outlaw/Raef LaFrentz for Gerald Wallace/DJ Augustin/Desagna Diop Does that sound any better to anyone? Because that's what this trade is (Camby=Blake/Outlaw) + (Dre=Raef LaFrentz EC)...........
It all depends on how much you value DJ and Crash. I do not think they would have traded Crash for two backups and taking Diops contract of their hands, let alone throw in DJ.
What I don't get is why you fire Larry Brown and THEN do this deal. LB would LOVE to have Camby and Miller! I thought they fired Brown so that they could get YOUNGER. Essentially this deal is Miller and Camby for Gerald Wallace. (Diop is filler, Patty Mills could probably produce like Augustin in comparable minutes and I'd rather give time to Armon to develop. Augustin's only positive is that he's an old pal of LaMarcus's.) We get the short end of that. Yes, Wallace is younger, but given the way he plays, he'll be declining pretty quickly from here on out. Ask me again after a few ugly losses in a row, though, and I'll jump at it.
This sounds almost too good to be true to me (which makes me wonder if it passes the sniff test at all). I'm not a huge fan of Augustin, but he is 4th in the league in assist to turnover ratio and very young/inexpensive. Wallace is the steal here. Granted, he's had a slow start this season, but he was an all-star and 1st team all defense LAST SEASON. And he's only 28. If he wasn't starting this season slowly, he probably would be untouchable. So this is the exact type of scenario Cho should be looking for. How the hell else are we going to get an all-star in his prime without giving up LMA/Batum/Matthews - whom, mind you, have never been all stars. If the report is true that the Blazers are the ones balking on this deal, I would say Cho officially over-analyzes everything to a fault.
There were and are several versions of this trade that have been or are still being attempted. One option has been sending DJ Augustin and Tyrus Thomas to Portland for Miller and Fernandez.
