Then if I were you I would ignore any thread started by Mixum. There are always lots of good Blazer and basketball threads on this forum. In the past I've always just ignored his posts but now that I'm a mod I feel obligated to read them.
That is a seriously weak argument. You are saying that an attack toward all blazer fans should be ignored. Yet, we can't do anything but be courteous in response. It is analogous to yelling fire in a movie theater. The job of a moderator is to do just that, moderate. Here we have extremerators. Thankfully, we are not each other.
It's distasteful to criticize an entire fan-base, but it's a not a "personal attack" per se. When people start getting called out by name that's where I draw the line.
Fair warning, I'm going to start mad-libbing insulting, derogatory or otherwise inflammatory posts. Hopefully they'll be funny.
I think he likes to tip-toe up to the edge of what is acceptable and occasionally steps over, but I also do believe that he's posting stuff he actually believes -- it's not all just for effect or to rile people up. The real issue from my perspective is that he posts things a majority of people don't agree with and his delivery is usually pretty rough-edged. Neither of which are worthy of disciplinary action on their own.
i know this might be the wrong time to ask... i know this might be the wrong thread to ask i know that not everyone will like this but.... can someone bump the mixum suspended thread. cant find it.
That is a silly distinction to make. So I can attack a group of people on this board and its ok but attack an individual and it isn't? Makes no sense. What if I were to attack the moderators as a group, is that acceptable?
The point of this board is to talk sports. Attacking (within reason) a group of Lakers fans is not only acceptable... it happens all the time on this board. Attacking a specific Lakers fan is not. It's not a silly distinction and not really that complicated. In terms of attacking moderators: they are posters just like you. Attacking them as Blazers fans is fine. Attacking them for something else isn't really something that should be done, although it unfortunately is done more than makes sense. Ed O.
