We’re told that the Sixers have informed teams (including the Mavs, in general conversations before Butler’s injury) that they’d prefer to keep Iggy; Philly is in playoff contention as presently constructed. This is valid enough if we are to believe that the Sixers recently turned down a chance to acquire from Portland a Batum/Pryzbilla combo. … But http://mavericks.scout.com/2/1036702.html
I'd guess the but is that the Mavs are trying to make a run at him and what do they have to offer that would be better than Batum and Przybilla?
That's what the reports say. As for what would be better than a washed up center with an expiring contract and a role playing SF???? Maybe they are willing to take Brand's contract as well? or maybe they are willing to include draft picks?
Could be. Although I don't see why with Jrue that Beaubois would be more valuable to them. Unless, with Butler and him, they agreed to take on slightly more. Or, like MM said, they took on Brand as well.

That depends on how they plan on building their team. Right now Philly is a mix of players with some best for an up tempo system, and some much better in a slow down system. The end result, is a mostly broken system where Doug Collins spends most of his time trying to teach young players how to play on a team that isn't very well put together for skill matches. So Philadelphia has to decide what their identity is going to be, and how they want to get there. If they decide to go up tempo, I expect to see Elton Brand moved. Maybe even Evan Turner who doesn't seemed suited for it. If they decide to slow it down, they will keep those two and add around them, moving the guys who thrive in the up tempo system instead. If Dallas is offering Butler and Buckets, both players who probably do better in a up tempo team, why would Philadelphia want to get rid of another up tempo guy, Iguodala? My guess is that other possibilities for the offer are out there. Brendan Haywood hasn't been super happy since going to the bench. Marion would probably be appetizing to many teams, and if another SF was coming in the door, what would Dallas care? If you also consider the fact that more than one team may be involved, it gets even more complex. Everybody knows Orlando is looking for a backup center. NJ moving Melo. Hell who knows. With NY actually winning some games, they probably finally have some trade pieces too if they wanted to make it happen.
