Dammit. He will make it difficult for the Beavs to win the Pac next year. The Ducks don't worry me so much, but Stanford will be tough. I still think we'll pull it off though.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
ESPN speculating that Stanford will now be a preseason top-five for 2011.

How would you like to be a Carolina Panthers fan today?

Beavs, Ducks, and Stanford is a lot of power in the Northern Division...

yeah I was just thinking the same thing.. and now I'm not as pissed that the Broncos started winning a couple games towards the end when the Panthers lost one.

Mean of Harbaugh to lie to the best player he's ever coached. :)

I don't understand why Luck would do this. Even with a good insurance policy, one freak hit can cost him a lot of money.

Given the way that Locker struggled this year after being a potential #1 overall, even without a major injury.

On the cynical side of my brain, I think Luck should take the money and run.

On the optimistic side of my brain, I think Luck should get into the NFL and start working on a HoF career.

    My thoughts on it are:

    1. If I were Luck, I'd enter the draft and complete my education on the side, during off-seasons

    2. This is probably not a business decision; he comes from a relatively well-off family, so has no pressing need for money, and probably has the confidence that he can earn a good living even without football. If he enjoys the college life while being in his early 20s, well, he can never have that back again.

    3. It would be more than a little hilarious if he returned to Stanford and didn't play football...just took classes. That way, he finishes his degree and doesn't risk an injury. :)

I think he's stupid for staying. The guy could be the #1 overall pick and you should never pass that up.

He's stupid for staying if he thinks that this decision maximizes the dollars he'll make. It's not stupid if there are things he values more than the absolute highest monetary payoff.

Regardless of what happens, he's unlikely to be hurting for money. Barring injury, he'll be the #1 pick next year. Even with injury, he might still be the #1 pick next year if he shows he's recovered, as Sam Bradford showed. Even with catastrophic injury, he clearly has more going for him than football.

UGH! I wish the owner would sell the team. He's a meddling dumb ass and no player or coach wants to work for him.

At least tickets will be cheap next year.

You guys are missing Washington. I hate to say it, but I think they were actually a good team. They did win their bowl game.

I was just gonna say that. It pains me, as well, but they are young and if they get decent QB play then they could be a factor.

UW could be good depending on their QB play as Ed O has mentioned. You rarely see a Pac-10(12) team do well with a first year starter at QB though.

The QB class next year doesn't look great so he's still in good shape. Matt Barkley is the only guy that could challenge him for #1 overall as of right now.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. He could actually use more starts under his belt as 1st round picks with 36+ starts have fared much better than guys with less starts then that number. He'll be fine.

And Oregon will own the PAC 10 next year. The receiving class coming in is nastyyyyyyyyyyy.
