Yeh, it's amazing now that they are asking New jersey to take Al harrington (and his four year contract) also. Does Denver realize they are not in a very good position here? The only other club in the bidding is NY and they have very little to offer. They could lose Melo for nothing and also the sooner they get on with the rebuilding, the better.

If I'm NJ I tell Denver to fuk off and talk to me a few days before the deadline when the price they get will be much less. If NJ pulls out of bidding them Denver risks getting much less and perhaps nothing for Melo IMO. Makem sweat!
I don't understand why NJ is so intent on getting Melo at any cost. They are rumoured to give up Favors and Harris, possibly their top two assets, as well as multiple draft picks and losing future salary flexibility. Even if Melo is the best player in the deal it becomes a lateral move. How long until Melo decideds its not working in NJ and forces his way out? Melo would be a great addition but Favors alone is plenty to give up. When Boston got Garnett the cost was an up and coming talent in Jefferson. They didn't have to also include a young all-star PG.
Good teams that have star players win in the nba. Bad teams with star players still get kicked around. Melo is just not good enough to make the Nets a contender all by himself and that's pretty much what the Nets appear to be banking on. Not a good bet.
