So first you criticize Cho for not making any moves and now you are criticizing him for making moves (eventhough he hasn't) because he is being pushed around by other GMs.

So if Cho doesn't make a move he sucks. And if he does make a move he sucks.

It's pretty obvious what Denver's GM wants to do: Parlay Harris/future pick for Batum. With an inexperienced GM in Rich Cho I fear he'd make a stupid mistake like this.

I'd trade Batum for Favors straight up. I doubt Denver would do that, though.

Trading Batum for NJ's unprotected lottery pick in the next draft... ?

    Maybe. I dunno.

If it would even be a lottery pick, after adding Billups, rip and Anthony. They're 10-27, but only 5 games out of the 8th seed.

Denver wants to rebuild around Batum and Favors.

The NJ pick is not guaranteed to be a lotto pick. You could have a losing record and still make the 8th seed in the East.

I would trade them straight up too. Moving Batum for NJ's, and NJ's alone draft pick would be great also. Batum is a nice young SF, but he isn't anything more than a very good role player

I know. I don't think we always get what we want, though.

Nothing is guaranteed, but the Nets have the 5th-worst record in the NBA and the other teams are at 8 and 9 wins.

I don't think that the Nets get THAT much better even in the best-case of adding Anthony, Billups and Hamilton. They might make the playoffs and they might not.

Of course, Batum might end up being worth a lottery pick and he might not, too...

MIXUM's spin was that we were ONLY getting the pick, which is not what the article says.

Like I said above, moving him for that pick alone could be a bad deal. Where the pick could end up could net us only a very good role player as well, with odds being it'd be outside the lottery, if they add those three to their team.

In this upcoming draft (sans Irving), I think Nic is worth ~pick 5. Getting a pick in that range for Batum would blow. And a switch of Dre for Harris (assuming) doesn't make us all that better this year.

Sure there's no guarantee of how they finish, but their standings against teams in the west don't matter(5th worst record) if they make the playoffs. Then a team with a better record will have a higher pick than them. With as little as Favors plays and impacts their team currently, I'd say a swap of Harris for Billups, Rip and Carmelo makes a very big impact on their overall quality.

    Denver wants Favors and Batum

Portland probably wants Favors and a lottery pick

Denver has to get this deal done, Portland doesn't.

The Blazers are in no position to be scared into making a deal. They'll hold strong.

The 2011 Draft is weak after the top-5. With Kyrie Irving seriously considering returning to Duke for his sophomore season the draft pool will be even weaker this summer. With Billups, though slowing down, he's still a good player. The Nets would drastically improve this season.

    PG: Billups
    SG: Hamilton
    SF: Anthony
    PF: Humphries
    C: Lopez

    That's a very solid group.

Headline fail. It article clearly says a comparable player (ie Harris I'd assume) and a pick. Harris plus The Nets pick 1st round pick would be great IMHO.

I don't see how Harris is a comparable player. He's in his prime years and has been an all-star.

I would say the comparable player is Favors. Him and Batum are both young, cheap and full of potential.
