I think they do. They went undefeated and the Ducks did not. It's a stupid system, but that's the way it is. Ed O.
#3 is just a number/ranking In the end the BCS championship is played between the two best teams in the country and that was Oregon and Auburn.
I thought you guys finished higher than that... that was a great Beavers team. So many NFL guys from that team.
I seriously think the Beavers could have beaten anyone that year. They would have at least given Oklahoma or Miami a run for their money.
With how last year was, and JaQuizz bolting, I'd be happy (more likely surprised) if the Beavers finished 3rd in the conference. And I'm talking about the new conference.
That's sad, man. Ducks won the conference, went undefeated in the regular season, and played for the title. If you can't be happy about that, then I don't know what to say.
I can see both sides... I for one am very proud of what this team accomplished this year, and in the title game. But as far as Rankings Numbers go, the only # ranking that matters at the end of the year is #1. A top 3 or 4 whatever doesnt mean much to me really. But thats just because for me the only purpose of the rankings is to determine who #1 is. Kinda a weird way to think about it I know.
Right now, ending up #3 stings because that 4th quarter was such an emotional rollercoaster for all Duck fans, both those in attendance and those watching on TV. Next year, it will start to become a huge positive. 15 years from now, the large majority of Duck fans will look back with nothing but fond memories, even more so if the Ducks can get to another BCS title game and finish the job. I'd put TCU #2 as well.
I don't know, I don't look back on the 90 and 92 Blazer teams with only fond memories. I just remember they got beat in the finals.
Do Ohio State fans think that way? How about Florida fans? Alabama fans? Texas fans? How about Laker fans? Celtic fans? Spurs fans? A maturing fanbase of a successful program begins to feel that nothing less than a national title equals a good season. This is the mindset that Duck fans should have.
