Re: Kenny Vance on The Game I just hope he doesn't make it go from bleak/meh to bleaker. My guess? It has something to do with Paul Allen.
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game It's something about how the new collective bargaining agreement could help us.
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game Who cares what Vance says? He doesn't work for the Blazers, so he doesn't know shit
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game From Kenny, via two GM's... it's a likely scenario that the amnesty clause will be back into the new bargaining agreement. A team can waive one contract and that contract comes off the books. Team still has to pay the player, but the contract doesnt effect the luxury tax. We used this same clause to waive Derek Anderson many years ago. old ESPN article about the amnesty clause: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&id=2112912
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game so hear would be the plan.... roy would free up a ton. miller traded camby traded that equals $30 million in cap space to spend on free agents and build around LA, Batum, Wesley and maybe Oden
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game That would be unbelievably good fortune. Thanks for the info! I had never even considered a return to the amnesty clause, but it really does make sense for both the owners (you get one contract freebie) and players (waiving a player via the amnesty clause and opening cap space allows for another player to have a large contract). Vance with some solid info there. Paul Allen, but the votes to get that into the new CBA.
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game Can we change the topic of the thread to something like "Amnesty clause - waive Roy" so people know what its about and 10 others dont start new threads on the same topic?
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game The fact that two GM's think this will happen gives it some legs... gives us some hope.
Re: Kenny Vance on The Game I would think it would take balls (and no brains) to do otherwise. I mean, we all know how much PA likes setting hundred dollar bills on fire and lighting cigars with them, but you have to think that if the franchise has the opportunity to remove what will be a 70 million-ish dollar albatross (money remaining) with almost no consequences -- you have to pay the money anyway -- even he can't be that stupid to pass up on what effectively adds up to a mulligan after chipping into the water hazard.
DERON WILLIAMS!!!!!!!!!! http://sportstwo.com/s2/NBASalaries.php i think he has a player option after this year according to that. and remember when he was pissed when they traded brewer for nothing. he was quoted to say http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/02/dwill-unhappy-about-brewer-trade/ omfg make it happen williams, mathews, batum, aldridge, oden/???????
