blazersedge The Blazers shot 33-90 from the field tonight. Incredibly terrible, right? Try this on for size. Tonight was the third time since Dec. 3 that the Blazers have made 33 or less field goals while attempting 90 or more field goals. Three super-ugly nights in 54 days. Exactly how ugly? Get this. It never happened last year. It never happened the year before that. It happened once in 2007-2008. Ready for the big reveal... To get the next stretch of three games that involved shooting this poorly, you have to go all the way back to March 2002! Once in 2008, once in 2004, once in 2002. Portland has put together more than half a decade's worth of brickfests in less than two months. Missing 57 shots and turning over the ball 17 times against a team as good as the Boston Celtics is like giving Sherlock Holmes a team of CSI investigators and knowledge of DNA. He was getting it done without the help, but if you're going to make it that easy, then you might as well skip ahead to the last chapter of the book, because you know how it's going down.
No Roy. No Oden. No Camby. For the most part, No Batum. That allows teams to play any other potential scorer differently. That should result in a lower shooting percentage. Who's the brainiac who dreamed this one up?
I agree, MIXUM. The shooting was beyond terrible last night. With Nic out, there really is practically no one to put the ball in the basket when LaMarcus is being worked defensively like he has been the last several games. Matthews couldn't put the ball in the ocean, and Rudy expended almost every ounce of his energy to get open for shots that ended up being contested late in the shot clock. Luke Babbitt was.... odd. For a guy who was supposed to be a scoring machine, he looks lost on the offensive end, but the kid played hard on defense. Thank God there was no Sean Marks last night. Very dissappointing evening.
It was heartbreaking to see on the Broadcast last night how our offense ranks across the board compared to last season. Did anyone else see this? Then they panned over to B-Roy on the Bench, hmmm coincidence? Pass first point guard, Make him one.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you take one of the best offensive players in the game off the team, the defense can put 100% of their focus on the other players, and shut them down pretty effectively.
whats concerning is... the kings did it and beat us. the celtics are great defensively so you can live with it. we are 0-2 since teams started doing this. basically they are saying.... wes, rudy and nic are way tooooo streaky to beat us. we will take the odds they have a bad night.
Nobody "did anything to us," we do it to ourselves. Once we get cold, the ball stops moving, ill advised shots are taken, and that much needed extra pass is not made. We have beat ourselves if anything, our Defense is relatively solid considering our lineup, OUR offense is not matching up. We need to own up and play as a team, it's the only way were gonna get through this injury riddled stretch.
