That is the 5th option. I was assuming that Miller's new team would want to make the decision on the final year, but it is perfectly logical that the Blazers could exercise that option now. I think that lowers his potential value a bit, but as eblazer posted, the lack of a new CBA may lead to no 2011-12, which would mean no trade, and nothing in exchange for Miller.

I'm a Przybilla fan. I think he fits Nate's system well; therefore he's worth more to us than to other teams; therefore if we trade him we will lose.

Correct. Unlike Pritchard, Cho doesn't brag to the Oregonian. If he did, the purpose would be to mislead other GMs.

Is there even a market for Joel?

Personally I don't want to move any of our bigs. I think we need Joel, Camby, and Oden next season.

~$7 million expiring contract is Joel's value.

There's usually a market for an expiring contract like his. Remains to be seen whether that's the case this year.

Nah. PapaG is much less snarky, dismissive and insulting than Canzano is to people who disagree with him. :)

Nice to hear it took Cho 6 months to come up with this "plan".

Ya, I'm not sure expirings are as valuable this year as they've been in the past.

Actually, I think they may be more so. Everything the League has put out is saying that there's either going to be a hard cap or a much tighter luxury tax threshold. Teams may be very interested in dumping salary to gain more flexibility after the new CBA is signed.

Yeah, because he's had such a nice static set of circumstances to work with.

Yeah, plan A backfired badly on him. His own fault.

I think the difficulty in that is there are still a few teams with very large TPE, which are more valuable than an expiring contract, and there are a ton of expiring contracts, flooding the market, in a way.

He counted on them staying healthy knowing what he knew. Terrible idea.

He compounded that by thinning the roster even more by trading Bayless. Even worse.

Does this guy know what he's doing?

LMAO. Seriously? Should we trust someone who has an avatar of Pritchard holding a GM jersey as being an unbiased source of opinion on Cho? What magical trade did Cho pass up, which would have made us better in the short/long term? You don't know. Maybe he's been offered nothing but crap because everyone in the NBA knows the Blazers are in a bind with all the injury issues. Don't act like Bayless would really be a difference maker on this team. Andre & Mils are taking all the PG time, while Rudy & Matthews are taking all the SG time, not sure where Bayless fits in. He wasn't happy or consistent as a backup. It is a tragedy we don't have his 9.6PTS & 2TOs to help us out.
