That was to earn his new contract. His current 16 is after that pressure is over. I think it will stick. I always get a kick out of it when people tell you you're on their ignore list, while answering your post.
What does it mean? The registrar says that maybe she can add a reading comprehension class to the remedial arithmetic and writing classes. But she wants a kickback, if you know what I mean.
He has gone to the hoop WAY more this season than previous years. We are doing much less pick and pops witty him and he is being aggressive in the post by taking the ball into the lane more often. Still, we have to appreciate the other aspects of his post game. Those turnaround shots in the post are money. I can't think of 5 other players in the league that have those moves that he can score with on a consistent basis. Aldridge is way underappreciated around here. People want him to be something he isn't. What he IS is a Rasheed Wallace who behaves well, smiles, doesn't get Ts, and doesn't drift out to the three point line. We reached the WCF twice with that guy. Aldridge is not the problem. Whenever I go to games around the country, the people around me are vocally impressed with Aldridge. You guys don't realize what a good thing we've got. If Batum had the exact same post game and the exact same stats, you guys would be calling him a fucking All Star.
PER can suck my dick. How many 17/8 players are out there in this league? And how many PFs are there with Aldridge's post game and ability to defend guards on the perimeter?
Once you admit Tyrus Thomas is better than Blake Griffin, then I will admit that PER means anything. Tell me that you'd rather have Jason Richardson on our team instead of Kevin Durant and I will accept PER as a damning stat against LaMarcus. http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/holl.../insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics
Don't know where you're getting that. People have been hating on him for years, sometimes unfairly, but he is definitely not having a good season. EDIT: Also, for a guy who "is allergic to the paint", 4 offensive rebounds per game is an interesting stat. I'm a bigger supporter of Aldridge than most. I think he's in a crappy situation with all of the injuries going on on the team (as are the rest of his teammates). I had been hoping for him to step up, but I think he's really just having trouble adapting. I'm not gonna pump up my expectations of him just because Roy is playing on gimpy knees and Oden is out.
On offense, yes. But Sheed was twice the player Aldridge is because of defense. Sheed was not only a great defender of big men, he was of guards too. He would come way out there, bend over, follow them and harrass them as closely as someone their own size. If Aldridge ever did that even once, it would be the highlight of his career and we'd watch the play on YouTube over and over.
Def - Average: A level two sigma higher than that possessed by jlprk when referenced with respect to intelligence and looks, assuming the population's normal distribution. The 90's AOL chat forums called and want their "reading comprehension" burn back. You're cute.
Do you have a microscope and tweezers? Aldridge's post game? lol ok. Don't let facts like PER get in the way of your love affair.
You do realize that when I said he was the 18th best starting PF, I omitted guys like Thomas, Amir Johnson, Warrick, Brandon Bass and Serge Ibaka or anybody who wasn't averaging atleast 30 minutes.
I've been digging around trying to find this thread for this exact post, because it's a snapshot of Old LMA's PER. 2010-11 LMA's PER is 22.1 That means that New LMA's PER (since 12/06/10) has been 28.0 Is 28.0 good? I think so. I won't say I was right, because I wasn't; pretty much everyone in this thread was pretty much wrong on most of the posts. But I needed to see that old PER and know. 28.0 is fucking groovy.
This thread is full of self-ownage. Repent thy sins, all of you. The church of LMA might take you back!
A Mixum thread should NEVER be brought back to life once its been lost in the archives. Bad karma is coming your way!
It's nice to see LMA completely transform his game, I can't say I've ever seen a player do that in their fifth year in the league and two months into a season. But "repenting?" I stand by everything I said at the time. He was NOT playing very good and he did suck at dealing with double teams or doing much of anything in the paint on offense. But like I said, good for him it's great to see him turn his career around like this in such a dramatic fashion.
you didn't say he was not playing very good which would be a temporary state. You said "the real problem isn't that he doesn't care it's that he's just not that good"... definitively saying that he'd reached his ceiling and no one should expect more I don't know how you can stand by that STOMP
What had happened in the first 4 years of his career ever suggested that he was capable of playing like this? When I wrote that, it was same old, same old LMA and he looked he was actually regressing. It is EXTREMELY rare to see a player do what LaMarcus has done since the middle of December ... in fact I can't think of anyone suddenly transforming their game this far into their career ever. I'm glad he proved me wrong, but there was nothing outlandish about it when I wrote that. And saying "He's just not that good" was meant to mean he didn't look like an all-star caliber player, he had been, looked like and was, just an above average player.
