http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6byvdv7 with us also sending a 1st to Charlotte. I would love to see this deal get done
not necessarily if they're looking to cut costs long-term. batum isn't that far from a big payday. also wallace's value isn't nearly as high as it was a year ago. something like camby or miller (if we are bringing in a PG from somewhere else) + cunningham/1st would probably be a very competetive offer.
Yeah, I don't see losing Nic for the future, but moving him back to the second unit would give great depth at the 3 spot.
LaLa said today that "The Decision" could take all the way up to the deadline, and still might be "no" to both. I don't think the league will wait based on her whims.
I don't think Cho/PA/Nate will trade Nico. His shooting is really valuable these days with LA owning the post and teams doubling him nightly.
I wonder if any of those guys are actually calling the shots, and, yes, I realize that you mentioned PA.
Gerald Wallace is having a pretty poor (for him) season. It seems largely attributable to a drop in scoring efficiency. All of his other peripherals seem to be around his career averages. He is only 28, so he might bounce back, but I'd hate to trade for him and discover that he's done as a high level player due to wear and tear. I've loved him as a player, but at this point I think he represents too much risk to give up much of value. If it boiled down to cap relief/picks, sure. But definitely not for Miller, Batum or Matthews.
He is def a player that leaves it all out on the floor. He has had some nasty spills in his career. Couple concussions if I'm not mistaken.
Anyone thinking Wallace is getting a little old should watch the highlights of his last game vs. the Lakers. He plays on-ball defense against Kobe better than anyone in the NBA.
I agree, but I'd probably give up Miller for him, not Batum or Matthews. I love Miller but he is 34 years old and I feel like he could drop off quickly so Wallace is a better option long term.
The problem is that Miller represents Portland's only good point guard option. If the team happens across someone else (like getting Devin Harris or Felton without giving up Miller, somehow), then I'd be willing to swap Miller for Wallace.
I'd bet Cho would bring him into the Dante Cunningham role (PF/C). Cho publicly already said that the two building blocks for this team are LMA and Nic so I wouldn't get my panties in a bunch as to whether we'd trade Nic for Wallace.
GW makes about 10M this year and has two years left after that. If they're looking for a salary dump, Joel + Dante + one of next year's #1's would work with Portland's offense revolving around LA in the post, they need the outside shooting that Nic brings at the 3. I'd rather see Wallace come off the bench playing primarily as a PF alongside LA and Camby. Even off the bench he could easily average over 30 minutes btw, it's hard to imagine them trading for Jackson STOMP
