They're probably thinking the same thing about us. We have a longer win streak than they do and more injured players.
I was looking for this a few weeks ago--thanks! BTW, this would have been useful during the PapaG v everybody "Usage rate/PER correlation" debate a while back.
Repped jlprk on the link, and I'll add that looking at a PER/USG% distribution, the plots follow closely to my own views on players and their impact. For example, Monta Ellis has nearly the same USG% as Lebron James, yet a 13 point difference in PER. What that difference actually means is debatable ither than this; Ellis is less productive/efficient in his end-result touches than James is, and by a large margin. Awesome link!
It was also very interesting to add ORtg as a third factor on there, allowing you to see which players with high usage/PER actually helped their teams perform better offensively.
I'd do that, but I was scolded yesterday for using Wesley Matthews' DRtg as an indicator of how he helped or hurt the team while on the floor in terms of his defense. Two combined factors caused a near-meltdown; three might cause an implosion.
Roy not playing tonight (per Cho) Funny tweet about Roy: blazerbanter The Columbian Nate McMillan, on whether Brandon Roy was lobbying to play tonight: "Brandon's always lobbying."
So here is what I learned from Blazer tweets today: Aldridge soaked in a cold water bath getting ready for the game. Rudy hung out with his posse who cooked for him before the game. Matthews is pumped for the game and expects/hopes for a sellout crowd to get loud. Oh and, as always, Mills is ready for game time.
Griffin v. Love tonight in the battle of the All-Star Stat Beasts! Both should go for about 25/18 based on the defense they play.
Martell got his first start as a T-Pup tonight. He promptly went 1-4 in the first 5 minutes of the game.
Bryant and Bynum are killing the Lakers right now, and Odom is non-existent. You'd think they'd feed Gasol, who is having a monster game.
Lakers now down by 9 points with less than 4 minutes left. Think the Lakers might panic to try to make a move before the trade deadline?
Not sure, but Gasol should punch somebody in the locker room after the game. Unlike DeMarcus Cousins' hissy fit, Gasol's outrage would be well-deserved. He doesn't have a shot in the 4th quarter, does he? Meanwhile, Bryant and Bynum are firing up bricks.
Artest is playing like he's in the twilight of his career. He's moving like a late-career Charles Oakley. Steve Blake looks like he's regressed, which is pretty bad considering he was the epitome of mediocrity (at best) before joining the Lakers. DaRizzle is awfully quiet this season after his gloating during the news of Oden's second MF surgery. Hmm....
Blake was +9 for the game and 2-3 from the field with 2 boards and 3 assists. Ripping on Blake seems like a bias-based post, IMO. Bryant was terrible tonight (8-24 FG), as was Bynum (2-12 FG). Gasol goes for 30/20, but on 15 FGA. Dissension in Laker Land, anyone? Gasol has become LMA, by Bryant/Roy in this instance isn't injured.
Another typical Kevin Love game. 15/17, no blocks, no assists, Wolves getting shitstomped by a bad team in Minny. All-Star!!!!
The nine-player Nugs team is up 20 on the Gay-less Grizzlies at halftime. WTF. MEM clearly thought this would be easy.
