The mods on here have proven many times that they don't care about trolling. They coddle and encourage MIXUM to continue his antics. To hope for the mods to do their job and moderate this message board is, I guess, wishful thinking.
You are asking me now? I clearly have no idea, you said it yourself, then you belittled me and acted high and mighty with your "thanks for trying" comment. MIXUM is only taking advantage of a system that tolerates his behavior, and if you choose to think there's nothing wrong with his behavior, then you are just as bad as he is and will be part of the eventual downfall of this message board, like 3-4 Blazer message boards that preceded it. Someday, someone will create a Blazer message board that have some mods with balls, who aren't afraid to cut an obvious troll off at the knees (and will have the stones to tell said troll to go fuck him/herself if he/she complains) and encourage a healthy, honest debate about the team without dealing with some jerkoff who gets his/her jollies from pissing people off.
You accuse us of not caring or doing our jobs, yet you have the nerve to act offended when I tell you that you have no idea what you're talking about? Or are you privy to the thoughts and actions of every single mod in the blazer community? Maybe you'd like to enlighten me on how I feel about Mixum or what I've done to try to prevent the constant drama and strife that plagues this board? Or were you just talking out of your ass?
I didn't have unilateral ban power. In any case, even if I did, I wouldn't have. I don't believe in bans for anything that isn't disruptive to using the forum, and I don't believe the forum has ever been unusable. Certainly, people have claimed it was...and then continued on using it. I'm sure you'll reference rule #1, about good intentions, and I can honestly say I don't really understand how Denny defines it. I will say that I always gave this opinion about MIXUM, to admin or anyone else. I don't personally believe MIXUM, or anyone else, should be banned for trolling but I laid out my opinion of what MIXUM was doing. That's my view of it, and it was my view as a mod. Personally, I don't believe there's much intellectual honesty to both claiming someone is a troll and continuing to post to and about him. I can understand one or the other, and I can understand wanting a troll banned, but I think you have to either be stupid or grandstanding to consider someone a troll and feed that selfsame troll constantly. And I don't consider anyone here stupid. And, to be clear, that comment isn't about you, blazerboy, as I know you don't post much about MIXUM.
Damned good idea. If I had the time, inclination and know-how, I'd do it But as is, I'm not holding my breath for this place to grow any such balls. It's sad really. When I stumbled upon O-live and BBF a couple of years ago, I was really happy to find a place to hang out with fellow Blazer "FANS" and root for my beloved team. I don't live in Oregon anymore and I don't have any other local Blazermaniacs around here - so it was really nice to find an online home with other fans. Yet a handful of dipshits do their best every single day to sour the experience for the rest of us. I gave up posting here regularly long ago and have to wade through a bunch of idiotic posts every time I come here just to get to the useful bits of team info. It's a damned shame. If/when you find this fantasy-land Blazer forum where obvious trolls are in fact banned, let me know and I'll be the first to join!
I accuse you and the other mods of not doing your jobs when someone like MIXUM can run roughshod over the board with his asshattery, and you and the rest of the mods just shrug your shoulders and mumble "just ignore him, maybe he'll go away" like pussies. I don't really give a crap what your personal feelings are towards him, nor any of the other mods. You took the "job" to be a mod and then don't do anything with the power to clean up the board and end the drama that that guy brings EVERY SINGLE DAY. So to me that means you shouldn't be a mod, nor should Ed O. or any of the other spineless people who don't ban MIXUM yesterday for his YEARS of continued trolling and masturbatory jolly-seeking at the expense of people who have emotional investments in the fortunes of this team. If you collectively don't have the guts to ban him, then set his account to moderated and only allow his posts/threads to be vetted by a mod who gives a shit before they are submitted to the board (I don't know if that's a capability of this software, but if it's not, it should be).
All good points, Chris . . . but you should just save your breath. What you're looking/hoping for aint' gonna happen. Like they say down here in Cali - no publicity is bad publicity. Whether you like it or not, DJ Rudy stirring his shit generates activity for the forum. So they'll let him run amuck for the traffic - even if it results in mind-numbing, face-palm inducing activity.
I do not have the power to ban him. Plain and simple. I can edit posts, I can delete posts, and I do that with regularity. Not just with Mixum, but with anyone who I see breaking the rules. Maybe you didn't notice, but there have been at least three threads that were edited and/or locked in the past couple days that were written by him. Do you call that shrugging our shoulders? You're taking out your anger on the wrong people sir.
That is a fact. Yet either way, who gives a shit? If the collective members of this site had the ABILITY to just not respond to a "Mix" thread or response, this problem would organically disappear. Collectively, we hold the power to rid the idiot. But we don't. And truly, the dude does not break the rules. By the letter of the law, he does not break the rules. So stop creating threads about him. Stop responding to him. Fuck. It's in our hands.
My position is that Rudy isn't worth the hassle. He's best ignored and left crying in the wilderness.
I'm just gonna ask that we let cooler heads prevail right now. Obviously this is a passionate subject for many people and I can certainly see why... but things cant be decided by just one mod. Team decisions have to be made and that takes some time. Throwing one Mod under the bus isnt going to make things better. So please, I know alot has been exercised already, but have a little more patience. In the meantime direct hatred towards Sly... he is a grade A Villain.
You are absolutely right - but getting even 5 local friends or family members to all agree to do something is difficult. Getting hundreds (thousands?) of strangers from all over the world loosely tied together by a common interest in a sports team to accomplish any such a task is impossible. It would be easier to reach that goal if the mods were more active/forceful in, ummm, "moderating" all those incendiary posts instead of basically bending over backwards to protect them.
so wtf is he. u know if we went down in a ball of flames he'd have at least 4 threads already about 'just being honest' on how shit we are....
