The Japanese were almost as bad. They committed atrocities across Asia during WWII. You should read about what they did to their prisoners. Something like 90k prisoners were taken from Bataan and only a fraction of them survived to see home. Many were starved to death, others were murdered when the Americans were approaching the prison camps towards the end of the war. The Japanese certainly weren't innocent, just as the German people weren't innocent. I would recommend watching "Third Reich: The Rise" and "Third Reich: The Fall" they're both documentaries I think from the History channel and they're extremely informative about the environment in Germany before, during, and after the war. Very few people were innocent in Germany. Almost everyone knew what was happening to some extent.
