WTF BlazerFreeman The Blazers have signed Chris Johnson for the rest of this season AND he will be under contract next season, too. What does this mean?
I wonder if we wrapped him up to make a project for some off-season strength training like LMA got. Then, if he works out, we've got him signed to us for next season. If not, well, we'll be losing Camby anyway, so there will be a spot for him, and we can go pick up Pendergraph or some other older center for a piece or all of the MLE.
Some super secret weight gaining program? Guy needs to gain 30 lbs at least and he needs muscle, at 24 or 25 it's hard to believe he hasn't been able to gain that weight, maybe it's worth a try - I guess we will see.
Sounds like he's going to be on the summer league team. Next season is not fully guaranteed. http://twitter.com/blazerfreeman
The tweets are saying that he's signed for training camp next season to compete for a roster spot. Regardless, season over.
It means the team has gotten further bad news about Oden that it isn't telling fans or the media. He won't be playing next season, either. [/fez hammersticks]
I don't think there is any new news about Oden. The team knows that the future is uncertain and unclear with Oden. So a prudent management is looking for a longterm replacement, or in case Oden surprises, a guy who can play backup center or PF. I suggested a couple months ago that it would be a better idea to try to develop a guy like Johnson than to have Marks on the roster. However, I think management wanted to keep Marks if needed to help balance out a future trade, and that's what happened. They gambled that Johnson would be available again after the trade deadline and that's what happened; Boston let him go after they were able to sign Troy Murphy. It's good that the club has already locked this guy up for training camp, letting him know that they are interested in him and his development.
I really liked the minutes we saw from Johnson. Guy hustled and tried to grab every rebound. He defiantly got shoved around a lot because of how thin he is but he is athletic and can block some shots. I don't expect anything great from the guy but he could play 10m a night without really hurting us.
Yeah, he has a skinny frame, but I don't believe he can't get stronger than he is and bulk up a little bit in the weight room. We just need to get our trainers on his ass.
