I agree with most of this. I pointed out at the time that if you insisted on labeling mixum a troll, at the very least he is the msot informed troll I ever dealt with. Most trolls spew stuff they have no idea what they are talking about. Mixum was a "troll" worthy of responding to . . .
Denny did leave an out that only an admin can reverse the ban and he wasn't going to do it. I beleive that leaves Ed to undo it. But Ed has been back and posting and hasn't lifted the ban. I lost track of all this after the first couple of days . . . so I'm not the best at giving a history of all this or where this is at.
Just post as many blazer links and news as possible because that's what Ed loved most about Mixum. He always dug up stuff.
Wow, I was surprised to see that thread was from 2005. Time flies. Lots of people from that thread have wandered off, but lots are still around, too. barfo
June of '05 is when I think I found BBF. First time I had ever been on an internet chat forum. KP told me about it honestly!
There's a difference between that MIXUM and the one we have here. I hope when he returns he re-reads his own post at BBF.com and acts the way he said he intended. We all drift from our ideals from time-to-time and a reminder to smack us back in line isn't the worst thing.
"Good posters" left the site? There is hardly any activity on this board now, and people said they would post if MIXUM was banned. A stupid move by Denny and the trolls who had MIXUM banned.
Like MIXUM wasn't a Troll. He was the Definition of a troll. He brought a lot of traffic here because of his outlandish posts which in all honesty I don't care about because I always had him on ignore. But to call the people who had problems with MIXUM trolls is beyond hysterical because there is no one thats even close to as big of a Troll as he was.
Well I don't see anyone on either coast posting those links now! I just looked at a list of the last 15 threads Mixum started. Nearly all of them were very informative in one way or another. Not as trollish as you'd think.
Yeah--I don't think it's a location thing so much as an attention thing. MIXUM loved to start threads because he loved to see how many responses/views those threads would get. You ever notice how often he would refer to that? I'll be honest--I do the same thing whenever I start a thread. It's pretty common with insecure people (myself included)--it's like a form of validation. Basically (IMO), the rest of the people in here aren't as needy as MIXUM in that regard, hence fewer threads being started.
MIXUM was the heart and soul of this forum. He was combative, attention-whoring, whiny and self-congratulatory. In short, he was us. We are him. I miss that funny, silly little guy...
It's the weekend. It's spring break. It's march madness. Those three all have significantly more to do with the activity being a bit down than Mixum's banning.
Starting threads calling out a poster specifically, and also derailing threads by using his real name, is trollish also. Some posters out-trolled MIXUM. I consider maxiep, chrisinpdx, and a few others no better than MIXUM, at least in their mutual exchanges.
I don't know who you are, but looking at your history, I've posted many, many more nuts and bolts basketball threads than you have in your time here. The "PapaGee" thing is dumb, btw.
Perhaps. Yet looking at other Blazer sites, their traffic seems normal. Plus, I'm still waiting for the "good" posters who said that they would post here now to start posting ASAP.
