What other purpose did this thread serve? The only other possibility for staying on-topic would have been "yeah, sure is better!!!". The board is slow right now, and some posters whined enough to have MIXUM banned, which is what I posted.

Or, I suppose I could have trolled another poster, which seems to be the approach that you're taking in this thread. Actually, you seem more than willing and capable of filling in the MIXUM void. I would suggest that you indirectly troll, via an extreme position on the Blazers, rather than the tradition ad hominem trolling that you seem to be embracing in the thread.

    Other than that, have fun!

It's great how "trolling" can mean whatever you like these days, isn't it?

Anyway, I suppose since there's "hardly any activity on this board now" you'll be looking for greener pastures. Good luck with the search.

Calling me "PapaGee", saying I should be the next MIXUM, and posting directly toward me is an example of "trolling".

If you aren't self-aware enough to know this, then you're on your way to being MIXUM yourself. The only difference between what he did and what you're doing is that his trolling was basketball-related, for the most part.

Your "trolling" is trying to get me to bite, and I have, but only to point out the fact that you, yourself, are a troll in this thread. What other purpose was calling me out, other than to elicit a response from me? Answer me that, and I'll reconsider my view of you being a troll.

For the longest time, we took MIXUM at his word that he really was a Blazers fan and we stood behind his right to post here. All that against the complaints of numerous posters. Then he made two posts that were an admission he viewed his part in our community to steal from the people you call the "moral majority" and he believed that the rest were rooting for him in doing so.

We don't take issue with people having abrasive personalities or posting unpopular opinions, or he'd have been banned a long time ago. We do take issue with the lying and stealing and the lack of respect for the people you call the "moral majority."

He is a Blazer fan, and you have a real example of trolling in this thread right now. What are the intentions behind TripTango's posts, other than to pick a target and create a negative confrontation?

We don't look at a small sample of posts to determine a person's intent. Judging by his recent post history, he's a really fine poster.

So you're admitting that the ocassional trolling is OK? Interesting. Seems to me that you made a decision that you can't justify, and now you have to excuse similar behavior from other posters.

It's an example of teasing, yes. If I posted thread after thread of nothing but attempts to get you to bite, all under the guise of legitimately Blazer-related topics, it would be trolling. Do you honestly believe that any post that attempts to "elicit a response" makes the poster a troll?

The response that I'd like to elicit from you is to put your money where your mouth is and produce the content that you claim the board is now lacking -- that's all. I'm a casual poster, I fully admit it. I like to follow game threads when I watch games. I throw in my $0.02 on topics that interest me. I definitely let MIXUM get under my skin more than I should have, but I don't miss his hourly "yet another reason why the Blazers are doomed" threads. You clearly think that the board has lost something important, despite (or because of?) the fact that so many were bugged by the guy. If that is true, provide it. MIXUM didn't have magical "inside sources". He didn't have a crystal ball. He had Google and a driving need to be the bad guy. Everything good about what he brought (lots of posts, obscure Blazer links, an opinion) could be replaced by a dedicated poster. Go for it.

You really should reexamine your definition of "trolling". I don't think it means what you think it means.

Honestly I think Denny is trying to say that this is a forum for guys. We talk shit and like to fuck with each other but for the most part we can laugh it off and be friends again 5 minutes later.

I agree with this. I just don't find deliberately seeking confrontation from an individual poster who you don't have a history with, which is what TripTango was doing until I put him on ignore, to be a part of the guy code. Now, if I call you out, or vice versa, then that's fine, because we are familiar with each other, and our intentions a just to have fun. I don't really know a thing about TripTango, other than he's some random dude that I don't know sitting at the end of the bar who is talking shit to me for some unknown reason.

And thus another thread becomes "PapaG asks semantic questions hoping for a gotcha while 5 posters attempt to explain why he's overreacting."

    AKA Sunday afternoon. :ghoti:

It's raining in Anaheim, and I have questions. I'm not sure who the 5 posters are, though. One guy I've never heard of, and Denny/Sly. Denny clarified, which is all that I really wanted, and Sly expanded on it, which was a plus. The take home from this is that I finally have someone on my Ignore list. It's been a loonnnggg time. Now I know why people announce their Ignores. It's such a power trip! BRAWR!

I must have missed all of my warnings. Plus, a shift has occured, as poster was actually banned. BenDavis503 had to beg Denny to ban him, literally in his own signature, until his brand of hatred was finally banished.

Anhow, it's nice to have you back as a poster, instead of a moderator who acted like a poster. :)

Good to know that you won't let two posts stand out.
I've noticed I'm missing a silver pocket watch. Aside from his lying and stealing, I'm 100% behind your policy to ban any scumbag who doesn't respect Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority. Every night before prayers I hear the Founding Fathers calling in the wind, asking us to clear the liars and thieves from this hallowed board.

As the thread title says, did you hear that? The dishonor is gone. Now that Mixum is gone, you cleaned them out. You didn't miss anyone who admits to non-sincere, non-honorable intent.
Ooh, look at the above examples, this is awful and I'm not adult enough to handle this. Someone, while being criticized for how they post, satirically teased back that yeah, I'm a bad guy. Just like the satire and teasing in Mixum's famous two posts. He humorously responded to critics by saying ha ha, I love it, keep criticizing me, I'm the bad guy. It was not a sincere admission that he was here to cause arguments. Even if it was, so what? Isn't that what a sports message board is? Or is it a place for us to love each other? Is this a sports message board or a whorehouse?
Now we're talking. Good explanation of why the tantrums against Mixum are pretty sissy. Cynic Mixum liked to find an ordinary event and put a negative twist on it. Then some supposed man would throw a tantrum against him. But cynics are amusing. Toughen up, lighten up, and stop requiring idealism on a message board. If I can put up with people who want to kill hundreds of thousands of human beings in a stupid war, others can tolerate a cynic.
Correct. Mixum's famous two posts (which Denny never links to, because you'd see how normal and innocent they were) gave Denny his immediate, current justification to do what he was going to do anyway, ban Mixum. As I posted in that very thread, if the rules of this board (e.g. Rule #1 is you must have honorable intent) were actually enforced, activity on the board would immediately die. The rules exist only to justify bans after they happen, not to guide the decision process before the ban. That decision process has no rules, and is a law of the jungle political process in which the squeakiest wheel gets the grease.

The political process was between two of Denny's lieutenants, Natebishop3 and Ed O. Natebishop3's few allies were squeakier wheels than Ed O's. Natebishop3 himself has posted dozens of times in the last week about banning Mixum, dominating each of the ban threads (for example, he started this one), while Ed O has posted maybe 3 times.
