Is anyone starting to think that this whole Charlie Sheen nonsense is a big fat work? An Andy Kaufman-level "reality performance" that accomplishes everything that Joaquin Phoenix failed?

"2 and a Half Men"'s ratings were in the dumps, and Sheen already had the image of a crackpot, so who is to say that he and the CBS execs didn't dream up this whole shebang as gigantic publicity stunt? Sheen's "brand" (with the "WINNING", ""Tiger Blood", etc. catchphrases) has never been bigger, and his "return" to his show on CBS will be a ratings bonanza. Everyone will make money.

The cynic in me doesn't believe a word of it.

That said, I was joking to my wife that Sheen went the full-Phoenix, and actually got himself an addiction to go along with the hoax.

He doesn't have any PR peeps (at least at the beginning his guys quit and he did this all solo and with a band of rogue advisors). He went off the deep end and people seemed to embrace it because he's a lush.

This was not a publicity stunt. He just doesn't give a shit.

No, I don't think it's a pub stunt at all.

If you are a nutjob, you do not show up "unannounced" on air on the Jimmy Kimmel show and throw pre-printed T-Shirts with your catchphrases on them. You get gang-tackled by security and thrown out of the building before you get anywhere near the stage, let alone near the host.

This whole thing is being played up by everyone involved, because they all have a stake in making a buck off of it.

    Very fishy.

Its not that hard to get on Jimmy Kimmel when you're the hottest celeb at the moment. Might have also had to do with Cuban, who Sheen met with a few weeks ago for some deals, so maybe Cuban invited him to hide in the green room.

If sheen goes back to CBS/Warner, he's going to get more money to get back on the show (he'll ask $3m an episode). The ad rates are set by May Sweeps and they've already cancelled that so that's a definite hit to them. To say this is all a calculated work is ridiculous.

I don't think he'll be back on CBS, I am thinking he'll end up on Fox with his own show that he stars in and produces. I think CBS knows this now and is freaking the fuck out, which is why they want him back.

Charlie Sheen, CBS In 'Two And A Half Men' Return Discussions: Report

Looks like "Two and a Half Men" may be whole again soon.

Without determining who represents what fraction, NBC's Jeff Rossen is reporting that, according to a source close to Sheen, two weeks after Sheen was fired from the show, the $2 million an episode man may get his job back on the biggest sitcom on television.

"Sources close to Charlie Sheen tell NBC News, CBS has offered him his job back. Discussions ongoing. Not a done deal," Rossen said via Twitter.

Of any reporter, Rossen would know; Sheen has praised the reporter who interviewed him for his multi-part NBC special report (part one and part two).

You've just validated my argument. Sheen and Cuban probably PLANNED it weeks ago. I'm sorry, but you don't plan insanity. You plan these "unannounced" appearances with handlers, marketing people, and coordination. This in itself is proof that this is a massive work.

weeks ago? there is no "weeks ago". They probably planned it that day or the week before with the T-shirts. Its not that hard to get T-shirt printed, especially when you're going on tour.

Sheen does have a business manager and an agent and lawyers. He's looking to get money. Don't think this is all a big work, they're seizing the moment.

I think 2 1/2 men has run its course personally. With Jake growing up there's not much more gags they can do. They have 2-3 seasons more at best. Sheen should go with Fox if they offer him a lot of money.

Sheen has always been a nutjob... but his managers have tried to reign him in and keep it quite. Now they are letting it run free because any publicity is good publicity. They are loving the attention.

Get rid of the kid, he was never that important to the show anyway. It was always about Charlie being a drunken ass and Allen being a girly loser.

I think his original interviewing with the tiger blood and all that shit was not planned. However, he's blown up since then so yeah - they're going to take advantage of it. I'm certain that his marginal anti-semetic remarks about the EP of 2 1/2 men was no where near calculated by the bunch of them. This has just become a money grab.

That was the Odd Couple. Except that Walter Matthau didn't bang 7 gram rocks and have K-Puff for a sidekick.
