The delayed double is intentional, to get LMA into his across-the-key maneuver. By doubling then, it makes things difficult for LMA to adjust to, since he's dribbling and not holding onto the ball with both hands.
As somebody who was really quite introverted until my late teens, I've definitely seen firsthand how people misinterpret shyness for arrogance. I suspect his teammates collectively said to each other, "Well, if he's too good to talk to us, let's fuck him over. That'll show him." You can blame his teammates for being immature pricks, or you can blame Aldridge for not developing the social skills to make his teammates feel good about playing with him. Or don't blame anybody and just marvel at how people fuck themselves over by not recognizing their own weaknesses.
